    Default Best Tobacco Fragrances

Had a nice response with another thread regarding leather scents, thought I would try another scent.

I would like to know what some of the better tobacco scents( I am looking for pipe tabacco--- that sweet cherry and tobacco or the dark cigar scents) any suggestion would be appreciated.

Yes, this has been discussed extensively on Basenotes over the years. But just to name a few of the more favored ones that will probably come up....

    Franck Boclet: Tobacco
    Phaedon Paris: Tabac Rouge
    Mugler: Pure Havane

And some might suggest Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, but I wouldn't.

If you have Phaedon Tabac Rouge, you don't need Tobacco Vanille

For rich cherry tobacco definately Burberry London For Men.
Tobacco and This Is Not A Pipe by Demeter. Aramis Havana and Montana Parfum D'Homme (especially current) for great tobacco.
For cigar tobacco I know only Cigar by Remy Latour. Don't let it's somewhat cheap appearance discourage you, it is a very good fragrance (I've only smelled the older version, though).
Non IFRA Compliant & proud of it!

The threads Andy shared contain good recommendations and have been recently updated.

    Otherwise:

Pipe tobacco (sweet, and accented with vanilla and spices like a pipe tobacco blend):

    • Franck Boclet Tobacco
    • Lalique Noir Or Intemporel 1888

Cigar tobacco (that dry, distinctive cigar tobacco note):

    • Aramis Havana
    • Carolina Herrera Mystery Tobacco
    • Roger & Gallet Open
    • Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Cuba
    • West Third Brand Voyage d'Tabac

Shisha tobacco (presented with a touch of Middle Eastern flair and a more resinous tobacco note):

    • Chopard Oud Malaki
    • Phaedon Tabac Rouge

Earthy tobacco (dark, almost like leather):

    • Amouage Journey Man
    • L'Artisan Tea for Two
    • Guerlain Vetiver
    • Polo (vintage is richer, but while it's been in rough shape for a few years, it has turned a corner and the current "stubby sprayer" edition is good)

While seconding especially the Franck Boclet one, but also Havana, Tobacco Vanille, Burberry London and Pure Havane among the ones already mentioned, also further adding the more or less pronounced or at least sporadic tobacco (especially pipe tobacco) notes, rendered mainly but not exclusively in:

Bogart pour Homme, CK One Shock, CHH Tobacco, the Zara Tobacco Collection, including so far Intense, Dark, Exclusive and Rich, Warm, Addictive (Unexpected Fresh Spicy also being announced, yet not fully informed about its current availability nor its effectiveness at including and/or covering pipe tobacco notes),

    to varying extents

Tabac Grande by Sultan Pasha is to my nose the best tobacco I’ve ever experienced.

I do like Phaedon Tabac Rouge, and Xerjoff Naxos.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

If you want a sweet "perfume tobacco", Chimaera by Terenzi is a must try. I don't like wearing sweeties but my decant of this blows me away every single time.

Alternatively my favorite more realistic tobaccos are listed below:

Montecristo Masque Milano photorealistic Cuban cigar tobacco, other accords: musky, hyrax, boozy, honey. A lovely unique animalic tobacco.

Tom Ford London cafe full off coffee, burnt coffee beans, ashtrays and of course damp wet high quality tobacco, another big love of mine. My favorite TF.

Coeur de Noir Beaufort London, introvert boozy high quality tobacco and its wild counterpart Vi et Armis by the same house (which is too much for most people but worth a try)

    I have and like:

MARLY HEROD - distinctive- well done- good modern tobacco
PHAEDON TABAC ROUGE- quite similar to TOBACCO VANILLE but I prefer it due to cinnamon notes
BACK TO BLACK- more honey than tobacco to me but very nice

On the way is XEROFF NAXOS. Can't say enough about this one. Very, very balanced frag. Sweet, but not too sweet. Strong, but not too strong. Masculine, but not too masculine. I could go on....

Really sits in a nice place on my skin, lingering. Oddly discovered a decant from a couple of years ago that I forgot and tried it after shower this week. It was like "where have you been my whole life?" It is just a killer scent with a nice tobacco note and may not be "pipe-y" enough for the OP.

A great "pipe tobacco" scent that is probably hard to find now is ODORI TOBACCO. Very potent tobacco/vanilla scent. ODORI made some good underrated scents.
Between Covid and retirement I don't get out much. But when I do, I smell real good.

I’ve always enjoyed Sonoma Scent Studios’ Tabac Aurea, which I don’t think has been mentioned.

In my case: I have Phaedon Tabac Rouge sample, so I don't need my Tobacco Vanille sample Actually Tabac Rouge is a much more sophisticated blend, I'd never choose TV over it.

A vote for the Aramis. Also CK One Shock.

I enjoyed Rogue's Tabac Vert recently but not sure I'd call it pipe tobacco.

I’m surprised out of all these threads no one has mentioned Baque or Jeke

Both of with are 10/10 for me

Then we get into the Attar world

    Mythique by Elixir Attar
    Tabac Grand Sultan Pasha
    Plasencia by Mellifluence Attar

Sir Winston gets an honorable mention for tobacco leaf.

Not your typical run of the mill tobacco scent, but Egoiste has been suggested as having quite a prominent tobacco note, or tobacco accord. Whether intentional or not I have no idea, but quite obvious in the current version out there.

Really? Huh. I've not heard that about Egoiste. I was given a vintage sample, I'll have to wear it a few more times to see if I can detect it.
