The Feather is on the way out sadly but did ok for this shave. Stars of the shave are the Snowman and the Blue Barbershop Splash.

    This morning's shave:

Razor: Karve Christopher Bradley (E plate)
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword
Soap: Summer Fig from Ariana and Evans
Brush: "The Kraken" from Maritime Brush Co.
After shave: Summer Fig from Ariana and Evans

I absolutely love Summer Fig - just a fantastic scent. It actually smells much better than Balade Sauvage.

I have given up on Feather blades, they seem to have wild inconsistancy , even from the same 5 pack. Todays shave was not acceptable quality from a premium price blade,I have about 6 blades to burn through at a shave a blade, then I will go back to Voskhod, Muhle and Personna instead

That's surprising, as I've only ever seen praise for Feather blades.
I've used about 10 of them without any issue.
I wonder what happened with the manufacture of your pack?

    Renato

I consider myself a pretty experienced DE shaver , I have used feathers for many years , but the lasT 2 or 3 years I noticed the decline .Yesterday I had a 3 pass BBS shave with Merkur Futur on settings 4 ( 3 for the ATG pass) with a brand new Feather blade , so its a pretty aggressive setting/blade combo with a new blade on 4, I had no nicks and no irritation...

I guess the only option is to toss a Feather as soon as you realise its not upto par, usually I can tell if a blade is going to be a bunk one with that very first pass of the new blade.

    Interesting thanks.
I've only been using old packs of Feathers, though I recently bought some newer packs which I haven't used yet.

Thank you kindly. I have somewhat of a brush addiction that I'm struggling with right now.

Here's a recent shave I didn't post earlier. A beautiful cherry wood handle. The knot is prickly as a cactus though and I should have set it a bit deeper.

    Razor: Merkur Progress
    Blade: Personna Med Prep
Cream: Cedarwood from Taylor of Old Bond Street
Brush: That Darn Rob cherry handle with an Oumo SHD two-band badger knot
After shave: Old Spice Burley from Shulton

    Merkur Futur
Feather blade ( Brand new, this seems to be a good one, can get 4 more shaves from it I think)
    Proraso Green
3 passes..pass 1 on setting 4 (wtg) pass 2 (across the grain) on setting 2.5, pass 3 on setting 3 (against grain)
    Alum
    Witch Hazel
    Nivea sensitive balm on cheeks/chin/tache
    Gillette Sensitive balm on neckline
    4711 Aftershave

Bangkok Hound that Old Spice Burley looks amazing, I think it was marketed as "Bounty" in some markets
    How is the scent?
I really miss the old school Old Spice scent, But I have some Paul Sebastian aftershave that is similar

Burley smells like the color of the bottle. It reminds me a bit of Halston Z-14 and Clubman Special Reserve. So, dark and leathery. I have a set of Old Spice Leather from the 80s coming my way now. Paul Sebastian is fantastic stuff as well.

Here are a couple of my recent shaves:

    Razor: Razorock Gamechanger Jaws
    Blade: Personna Med Prep
Soap: Washington from Heritage Hill Shave Company
Brush: "Baby Blue Mesh" from Craving Shaving with a Fan Fiction knot
After shave: Old Spice from Shulton

    And this morning's:

    Razor: Fatip Lo Storto Originale
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword
Cream: Eucris from Geo F Trumper
Brush: "The Hornet" from Billy Goat Brushworks
After shave & EDT: Jules from Christian Dior

Do you use additional lighting or a Lightroom?

Thanks! I just use a desk lamp for additional lighting. And these are all Instagram pics, so I play around with the contrast, warmth, etc. a little bit. Mostly, I brighten them up.

    And here's this morning's:

Razor: Karve Christopher Bradley (SB C plate)
    Blade: Gillette Wilkinson Sword
Soap: Bare Siero from Wholly Kaw
Brush: "Max the Blues" from Grizzly Bay
After shave: Aqua Velva from Williams

Due to Melbourne's never ending lockdown, today I had a four day growth - which I don't remember ever having had before.
Which I thought might be the sort of beard most suited for open comb DE razors.

So I used "To Mo or Not to Mo?" shave cream and a Merkur open comb razor on half my face, then switched its Lord blade across to my Weaponry open comb razor, and completed the other half of my face.

I've never liked that Merkur open comb, but it finally did a decent enough job - even though it grated a bit and wasn't all that comfortable.
The Weaponry open comb did an excellent job, and was much smoother and more pleasant than using the Merkur.

I didn't notice any alum stings afterwards, indicating a good shave from both razors.

So I finally have a use for my open comb razors.
    Cheers,
    Renato
