I think Ropion's touch really makes the difference. I really wish more high-class perfumers would be given real oud to work with. Artisanal ouds are great, but sometimes the blending just isn't there to do justice to the beautiful oils they use.

A great fragrance, but had I to spend that amount of money, I would look into other houses that do things better for less: Bortnikoff, Ensar, ALD, Sultan Pasha. I even think that Roja Musk Aoud is a better investment, and can be found for under $500 online for a 100ml bottle (vs The Night, which cost - at least - $1,200 for a 100ml pop).

I've tried some Ensar and Bortnikoff. Beautiful ouds, but not as beautifully blended in my opinion. They seem to lack something. For me, the overall outcome of the composition is what really matters. More so than the ingredients. Even I agree that The Night is overpriced. But I think that no one can deny how well made it is. I think that price is really very subjective. I used to look at the price of perfumes when I started collecting. Now I really don't care as long as I find it beautiful enough for me to purchase it. I let my nose decide what I'm going to buy or not. Roja is nice also but lacks the animalic kick that The Night, or some artisanal stuff, have.

I would agree with this regarding Ensar Oud No. 1. I've worn it a couple of times, but it just kind of sits on my skin like a bunch of jumbled notes competing with one another. There's no progression. It doesn't tell a story. It just "is," which is fine if one loves the end result. I don't mind it, but I have to be in the mood. The Night is something I've tried and liked, but haven't picked up yet. I did get a 100ml of The Moon and that's a tamed/westernized oud, very accessible and wonderfully done. Right now I'm REALLY enjoying Amante from Profumum (Note di Profumum) which is the first (and only) Profumum scent to use oud. It's well blended with amber, cedar and sandalwood and is very nicely done without fruits, citruses or floral notes - just ambery woods.

This one I am very curious to try. I really like Profumum. Really solid house. Notes look right down my alley.

I believe it's exclusive to their boutique, but I happened across a bottle on eBay and snagged it.

Completely fallen for The Night. Got a 10ml when I bought POAL and MR last month. I have Promise too, it's lovely.
Yes, I want the 250ml to bathe in, but I will get the 50ml whenever I'm out of full lockdown.
It's totally worth it for me.
It fills the niche in my collection that APLS filled and has sadly been discontinued.
    you all smell fabulous

APLS is not discontinued, but currently can only be found in the boutique.
As far as the night, it's stunning & will be added to my collection very soon!

I think APLS is gone forever. I've e-mailed the boutique and they said it's no longer part of their fragrance line, and there are no plans for bringing it back soon. Also, looking at the direction in which the house is going, I really can't see such a kinky, dirty, and artistic perfume, having any business among the other more commercial releases. They recently made Velvet and Cashmere boutique exclusives (also less popular). So glad I have two bottles of APLS as it is one of my favorites. I don't think it shares anything with The Night, but I agree, they are both gorgeous perfumes, created by amazing perfumers.

I literally picked up a bottle from the boutique last month & they had gotten in 8 more bottles in as well, but was told by the SA that it's getting harder to acquire & if I was interested in purchasing another bottle that I should ASAP.
Maybe it's in-store only I'm not sure, one thing I do know is I'm going back for a back-up this week!

Finally secured a decant of The Night. Its certainly not as challenging as I thought it would be. There is definitely real oud in the composition, but it also seems like its a mixture of real and synthetic oud; and you can detect the difference. The synthetic aspect is very similar to the synthetic oud in Xerjoff's Zafar (also pillared as being "unwearable").

Is it worth it? Thats all relative to your financial circumstances. Personally, I will probably get a full bottle of this because it is very nice and beautifully blended. Is it the best western style oud out there? Not in my opinion. The Night doesn't come close to the perfume oils created by Laurent Smal (such as Eagle One and Dream Gate, both of which use very little, if any synthetic oud and copious amounts of the real stuff) or by Henry Jacques (such as Oud Imperial and Oud Supreme). The LS and HJ perfumes are more pricey, but both quality of ingredients and blending exceed The Night. The one area where the Night beats out LS and HJ is on longevity and projection - its almost impossible to get the Night out of my shirt sleave and one spray is enough to engulf a room...

I got the 100ml and I have no regrets. No matter how many oud oils I've smelt, artisanal ouds, yata, yata. The Night still is one of my favourite perfumes and my favourite Indian Oud - Rose perfume. Of course it is not all natural. The synthetics are used brilliantly to support the oud and to help with silage and longevity. Also, myself, I don't find it to be as animalic as many people say. I think for those that are not used to oud with fermentation tones, this is too much.

Ooh to both The Moon and Amante. Xerjoff does weird things with fruit in Oud Stars a little too often for my tastes. The Moon is shaping up to be a strong contender.

I believe the Note di Profumum line used to be sold at boutiques like Luckyscent and Jovoy, but no longer. If you ever go to Rome, I highly suggest you visit one of the Profumum Roma boutiques. They don't sell samples, but they encouraged me to try as many I wanted in the store and to keep coming back (which I did each day while I was in town since my hotel was a short walk from it). It was the best perfume shopping experience I've had.

I enjoyed every single one of the Note di Profumum line, including Amante, but my favorite was Meraviglia. They didn't make travel spray sizes of the Note di Profumum line at the time, but I believe that now they do. And, of course, they have the entire Profumum Roma line there in travel size bottles, and you will hardly find any of those outside of the boutiques.

On the topic of The Night: I do think it's very nice and a BEAST in performance. I can't justify anything larger than the travel size for it, though.
