Khanada- I'm a huge fan of the Coconut Fizz. I have a bottle. The Mad et Len Ambre Decadent sounds lovely.

I have restrained myself and purchased nothing today. Yet.

I've been busy this month. Already.

    Today, order #1 arrived:
1/4 ml of vintage Coty L'Origan
1/4 ml of vintage Patou Joy pure parfum
    5ml Alexander McQueen Kingdom
    5ml Serge Lutens El Attarine
    5ml Serge Lutens Bois Oriental
    5ml Serge Lutens Sarrasins
5ml Serge Lutens Rose de Nuit

It's been a real pleasure sniffing L'Origan and Joy. It's a damn shame that fragrances aren't made like that any more.

Oh, lemonlimelady, New Look 1947 is *such* a pretty white floral, with all of the big ones! Which ones do you smell most? I get lots of ylang and tuberose.

24F, I agree with piney -- this is such a fantastic vanilla -- woody, anisic, dark, and just wonderful. You'll really enjoy it when the temps drop!

Also, we're sisters in caving. I just caved and bought Bogue MEM. I find it utterly addictive.

Thanks, N. Cal! My Amber Absolue already got here. I’ll be buying from that seller again. Also—Ambre Precieux is my absolutely favorite amber, ever, so I am waiting breathlessly until I can bathe in it. Amberama 2020 continues!

To continue the Amber train, I just bought
Parfum d’Empire Ambre Russe—another one that cannot arrive too soon:

And a sample of hednic’s suggestion, Ambre d’Alexandrie, which I am 99.99 percent certain will merit a FB

Plus a backup of Hermés Eau Claire des Merveilles. Great price on this one, especially since it is now discontinued. I’ve been hoarding my last precious drops—thankfully no longer necessary

Congratulations to Trilby Lark on Insolence! Guerlain knocked it out of the park, with that name. The edp is gorgeous, too, but a tad more restrained, with more trademark Guerlain opulence. I prefer the edt, but I have never experienced the pure parfum. I intend to, someday, although I anticipate less (how does Luca Turin say?) “hairspray and terror,” and I like those qualities. It is my favorite of all Guerlain’s releases in the last 20+ years, due to its fearless personality.

Congrats also to ExtremeK. Joy parfum . . . swoon.

Thank you!! I tried it the other day and expected it to be not my type at all, but somehow I enjoyed it way more than I do very sweet vanilla fragrances. It has that darker boozy note to it that I really love.

It was an unexpected favorite of mine!! How are you enjoying Sarrasins? I love this one and would definitely buy it but I try to avoid the bell jars. I bought one years ago as my first Lutens and never again...

I really need to get my nose on MEM again! I only smelled it once briefly but I remember thinking it was my type.

Van Cleef & Arpels has a vanilla based scent called Orchidée Vanille. These two are worth sampling if you haven't tried them already.

Thank you! I adore Ambre Sultan. It, and its close cousin Ambre 114, are on the “buy” list for a haul in the near future. I’ve named fall 2020 “Amberama”. I have a thread going, about classic amber perfumes, in the FFD, if you want to see how it’s going, so far.

Thanks! I approach the Allegorias, with a little trepidation. I like the ones I have tried, but have not found many that blow my skirt up, consistently enough, to warrant a full bottle. There are a one or two that are discontinued (Ylang and Vanille is the exception, that proves the rule). Guerlain used to offer them, in small bottles, in sets and promotional samples, and I wish they still did, or, if they do, that I could find more. I love the indulgent experience of full bottles, but I am a very practical person, and do not understand why more people don’t buy decants, especially when I peruse the sale thread.

ExtremeK tipped me off to Mad et Len. Just what I needed! Another house to obsess over I’m equally enthusiastic, about their candles and other home accoutrements—handsome cast iron implements, somehow medieval and ultra modern, all at once. Gothic, even. My boyfriend, who loves to have wax melts and scented oil burners in every room, is equally mad about them.

    Loves:
Florals (especially rose, tuberose, cherry blossom, orange blossom, osmanthus, ylang ylang, immortelle, violet, jasmine, plum blossom, heliotrope, and iris)
Orientals (especially spicy, woody, and floral orientals)
    Boozy notes
    Chypres (especially with real oakmoss)
    Rich gourmands
    Animalic fragrances
    Great longevity and sillage
