Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Tuesday, 4th August, 2020

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

teardrop at last we managed to catch up with some swallows and house martins at a location which is a dream for all the resident hermits. Tranquil surroundings bordered by woodland / farmland with just the occasional canal boat breaking the silence. How I need that lottery win ...

Jon, I keep seeing those canal boats in British television shows. Do people just live on them, like houseboats, or do they have some commercial purpose too?

They were originally built for transport and industrial purposes but the majority that remain are now houseboats. The rest are located in tourist spots for hiring.

Jon, that sounds like a dream indeed! The swifts have finally departed south, & l'm missing them already.

ls it wrong to say l kind of miss lockdown as well? l so enjoyed the peace & quiet, the lack of crowds & traffic, & being able to hear the birdsong. After a horrendously busy couple of days at work, l wish everyone would just go home & stay there!

l'll decide on a SOTE after l've calmed my frazzled nerves with a glass or three of wine...

Thanks, Jon. They look adorable. I would hire one of those for a water-going holiday in a heartbeat. I found a Guardian article with photos of several different interiors:

Jon, you smell wonderful today! But, yes, you don't want any part of War & Peace Even I can manage only a drop at a time. Speaking of, foxbins, you may want to try it, too! Sunnyfunny, I'm looking forward to hearing what you think.

I'm wearing the much calmer, prettier, more fleeting Amber Cologne, also by Bortnikoff. Listed notes are Bergamot, Lemon, White and Pink Grapefruit, Sweet Orange, Cardamom, Frangipani, Jasmine Sambac, Virginia Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Grey and Brown Ambergris, Oud from Sri Lanka, Bouya Oud, Vanilla.

I can't smell any oud at all. Which is a good thing for me.

ExtremeK, I haven't tried any Bortnikoff's. Or Areej le Dore. I'm so behind in sampling! Also squatting, not doing those either, not 100 and certainly not 1000! Does getting up and down from the recliner count? Probably not. You and Mike are hardcore!

Congrats teardrop! Jon, your photos are beautiful. Wish I was there.

    I'm wearing Pulp today.
