    Default Non loud, gentle fragrances

Hello everyone, new here but I've been lurking for a while.

I'm searching for some more fragrances that kind of fit me. I like fragrances that aren't super loud, meaning they don't project a crazy ton. I also like gentle, natural smelling fragrances. I have found a few that I like that I have used this summer, however looking for some more for fall/winter. These being YSL l'homme, and Tommy Bahama set sail st. barts. My preference is fragrances that can only be smelled if within close distance to me. Could anyone recommend some good fits for the colder months?

    Christian Dior Bois d'Argent

It's wonderful any time of the year, and it's subtle yet persistent. Very beautiful fragrance.

Two examples would be vintage Chanel Egoiste and Pour Monsieur.

I'll throw in vintage Givenchy Gentleman

L'Occitane Eau des Baux should fit the bill and not break the bank. Just a high quality, soft-spoken, very cozy and approachable woody-oriental-incense.

Since Chanel pour Monsieur and Eau des Baux were mentioned, seconding both, while recommending especially the Concentree/EDP version of Chanel PM

if you want the very best, Nabucco Parfum Fin is the Holy Grail of such scents, close to skin but very long lasting, smells ridiculously nice, it's an oil so even a 20ml will last for years.

    What's your budget?

I could list out a few, all are definitely within reach but I'd rather not assume.

I personally prefer lesser loud scents. Oftentimes it means that I might have to sacrifice longevity, but that's not always the case.

Le Labo Gaiac 10 is a notoriously hushed projection but it lasts long on me. Airy, woodsy, works quite well in the Summer months as well. House of Sillage No. 002 and No. 003 that both are long lasting, don't really project enough to fill a room but might fill a small car after an extended period of time and work quite well in the warmer weather, but I'd say wear 003 later in the day if you could. Creed Pure White Cologne comes to mind, same as Ex Nihilo Cologne 352. Traditional-ish type of colognes but the Ex Nihilo actually lasts. I'd say that it's a "clean shirt" type of scent, crisp and both actually last quite a bit on me.

There's a few more that will definitely come out in this thread. Best of luck finding what you're looking for.

Much as I like Chanel PM and Eau Sauvage, they seem too summery to suit your request for cold weather suggestions. I would think you'd want something more woody and/or spicy.

In the price range of the scents you already own, I'd say the cologne version of Cartier Declaration (it's much lighter and more transparent than the original EDT), and Tea for Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur.

+1 The One, good subtle frag, in any formulation

Ferragamo Subtil (the name says it all)
    Intametely Beckham
    Cereus #4
    Kenneth Cole Signature

One house to check out, is Miller Harris, I find that the majority of their frags lack severely in projection, but not in quality. they use more natural ingredients, so stuff smells great, but with the lack of aromcachemicals, their projection is mostly minimal.

    Welcome!

The Bulgari Eau parfumee line (eg au the vert, or, for the winter, the discontinued Au the noir) was designed with that in mind, low volume, but long lasting. A little more expensive, the Hermessence line also fits the bill.

I just learned that Jo Malone has brought back Black Vetyver Café. It's a very discreet, natural-smelling, slightly sweet, snuggly, unisex scent.
I get by with a little help from my (((friends))).

You know what, Eau Sauvage is among my top worn as well...actually tied for #1 with Yatagan, and followed closely by Or Black. Chanel PM is up there as well, and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme. Typically I don't think in terms of "top 5" or what not, I suppose if pressed, those are them!

I honestly would not have guessed that Eau Sauvage would rank so high on wears. I may take it a bit for granted among Edmond R's many classics, but I keep reaching for it in summer. I talk about Eau d'Hermes, but apparently wear Eau Sauvage .

Aside from my Eau des Baux recc., I think Chanel Pour Monsieur is the one I'd recommend to OP (more fall/winter appropriate, Eau Sauvage being its spring/summer alter ego).
