Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

24 Faubourg, I hope you already got the power back. Take care.

I woke up at 4 AM and got up instantly because I remembered I still have to take the laundry out of the washing mashine and hang it. I dozed off in the evening while reading and didn't do it. After that I brushed my teeth for the night, used all the face oils and creams and headed back to bed, but I couldn't fall asleep again and the sun was already rising. So I just read a bit and decided to just get up, brush my teeth again and head to the shower. I'm a bit sleepy, but not too much. Outer application of ginger scented body cream and inner application of coffee helped, I suppose.

I planned to wear something else, but Les Amoureux de Peynet called to me, so it was the only option.

Hello, everyone and cooling thoughts to all who are dealing with wickedly intense heat, and restorative vibes to all the power outages!

Today it's 4160 Tuesdays Meet Me on the Corner.

It's early yet, but I'm finding it an interesting "atmospheric" scent (I can definitely see how it's reminiscent of a small city sidewalk on a summer day), with whiffs of warm metal and I think cement?

Anyhow, wishing all a thought-provoking (in a good way) Thursday!

Meet Me on the Corner fragrance notes: Citrus, Woods.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

Belated congratulations on 18,000 posts, Teardrop. Steady as she goes! Also, I'm thinking of you, 24Faubourg, and hoping the power is fixed by now.

I dreamed last night someone told me beige was "my color." I woke up and went straight to Oxygene like an arrow (it's light blue juice.) Drank my coffee in my comfy chair, dressed for garden work, lifted my wrist for a sniff, and then raised my arm to sniff my pit just to be sure.

Thanks . It is looking like we may have a week of this misery to endure so hydration will be of paramount importance. Roll on Autumn ...

    Oh, my, Jon! Take care.

It's been a hot summer here in Cleveland. Yesterday we had a break with perfect balmy weather. I procrastinated re: my bike ride, which was fortunate, as I ended up heading out toward Lake Erie at the golden hour, through the raking light and shadow of Rockefeller Park. Sat on a pier, drew a little, saw the sunset. A dreamy, quiet ride home in the dark, through inner city neighborhoods then up the hill to my home in the Heights. I wore Violettes de Toulouse then, including a dab on my mask. Came home and slept with the windows open. SOTD continues with Violettes de Toulouse as it compliments the sweet air wafting through my window.

Here are pictures of this most beautiful and rare summer night. I am at heart a solo and a an urban cyclist. The city is my history book; the streets, each a page. I read as I ride.

Hat tip to SunnyFunny for encouraging me to draw.

So sorry to hear that you will soon be baking, Jon and teardrop. I'm not a hot weather fan either.

It's rainy and coolish here, which means my grass will grow 2 inches by Saturday afternoon. It's one of Mother Nature's miracles that I like to watch, such a frenzy of cellular activity. Since it's not hot, I'll turn on the oven today and bake something, and there is a recipe for chickpea curry that I want to try. I'm wearing Organza Indecence.
If you can't smell me from six feet away, I'm not wearing enough.

Sincerest sympathies, Jon! What is the forecasted high?

I had a strange, nearly sleepless night, last night, and I have no motivation to work today. The boyfriend sent me some tracks that need a woman’s touch, I think, but when I fired up the studio, the gears began grinding, and I got absolutely nowhere. I don’t know if my ears are rubbish or my ideas are rubbish, or both, and since I am second-guessing myself like this, I saved all my drafts, and closed everything down again. Sometimes, the best thing to do is nothing—just step away, and recharge one’s batteries elsewhere. I think going outside with a sketchbook might be the solution. With a very un-challenging audiobook.

I started the day with Aoud Queen Roses, and then transitioned to Do Son edt. Has anyone else noticed the gorgeous neroli in Do Son? It lept out today, and smacked me in the face. Color me obsessed.

    Lovely post, jujy.

lt reached 30 degrees C here this afternoon, & l'm really not enjoying the heat like l used to. Anything above about 26 is too much for me these days, & l'm not looking forward to working another long shift in the even hotter temps forecast for tomorrow. lt's been a stressful day & l arrived home completely wilted.

Lovely scene, jujy! I've still got a bottle drawing in my mind, but I'm currently completely jacked up on this one book I'm reading. It's the single most challenging and rewarding thing I've ever read. I've got just under 50 pages to go and I already miss it. Was not expecting this experience when I ordered it and then began reading; my goal was simply to finish it. Now, it's become a defining factor of this already unique, strange, and beautiful summer.

Anyway, Shalimar today. Strangest thing-- I was out doing some yard work in this the other day when I smelled a distinct vanilla laced tobacco projecting from... somewhere. It might have been one of the neighbors lighting up a pipe, but might it also have been Shalimar magic? It's not what I smelled on my skin, that's for sure.
