Okay, so Chrome doesn't like the non-forum parts of the site, and in Firefox some of the non forum pages need a refresh before I get full padlock. I've a vague idea of what I need to do to solve it, but I think that might be a "tomorrow" job.

Haven’t really given it a workout, but so far, Chrome app on iPhone reads site as secure except on the home page, although the home page no longer treats me as signed out the way it used to. Definite progress, thanks! When I get some time later, I’ll toss multiple browsers at it to see if I can uncover any gremlins.

I'm getting the caution ⚠️ triangle in non-forum parts as you suggested on Firefox.

Using Safari 10.1.2 under MacOS 10.10.05, if I go to the Directory, it shows secure (lock icon) but not logged in. If I refresh the page, it's no longer secure. Home page shows me as logged in, but same issue with secure on click, not secure on refresh. This behavior is consistent with everything to the left of Forums on the menubar, and it's accompanied by a change in appearance of the menubar in which the green submenus are replaced by very light grey. This "bad behavior" persists when linking to any fragrance in the directory. From Forum on to the right, behavior is "normal" (lock stays on, submenu stays green).

Firefox v.78.x is similar, except the lock is always off (warning triangle showing) with menubar its to the left of Forum.

Chrome v.84.x has similar visual inconsistency in the submenus, but it shows secure everywhere I checked except directory listings for fragrances.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you wan't me to test anything specific.

Hello Grant. Unfortunately I'm still having problems with Tapatalk. Whenever I try to access a post either via a notification or via one of the forums I get a 'this thread may have already been deleted by the administrator open in browser' message. Thanks for your help.

Question Re: Site downtime 14th August

Using the URL of https://basenotes.net/log-in I access the log-in screen, populated with my username and password. Upon selecting "Sign in", I'm moved to another screen and receive an "Invalid Redirect URL (http://www.basenotes.net)" message, and required to re-enter my password.

Previously, this behavior did not happen.

UPDATE: The redirect is to "http", not "https". Needs to be fixed.

Okay I've deleted all the caches server-side which I think has solved a lot of the problems, but please let me know if you come across anything else.

Tapatalk seems good for me ,but let me know if you are still having issues

    cheers

Hello again Grant. I'm afraid that I'm still experiencing the same problems with Tapatalk and have checked to make sure that I'm using the latest version of it.

    Thanks again.

Interesting. When using the Chrome iPhone app, the left/right divide manifests as the mobile (pop up) menu for all items to the left of Forums, and then the desktop (horizontal) menu from Forums all the way to the right. I don’t know whether this is by design or accident. Going to Directory, “Login” still appears even though I am logged in. But it does appear that the secure “lock” is always on now, so deleting the caches might have fixed that. Will have to test desktop browsers much later.

Tapatalk is unfortunately still unusable for me. The same problems persist when trying to access any notifications or other threads and posts. None of the forums appear and if I try to create a post I get ' network error, please try again later' message.

Grant one more thing I’ve noticed. The iTrader platform (feedback section) is rejecting addresses with https in the url - it gives an “invalid url” error message. Using http seems to go through without any problems.

Thank you for the site update, Grant - this seems to have sorted out a number of major issues I was having with BN (not being able to access the Samples section of my Wardrobe without being logged out; not being able to see text/etc command buttons when posting replies and hence not being able to upload images or format post text; randomly being logged out of the site regardless of being in the process of typing replies to posts or writing PMs, and losing all data entered). Next step is to see whether I can now enter Private Notes for scents, or even upload reviews.

It's made BN much more stable for me (Firefox on Win10). Cheers !
