    Default Adding to fall/winter collection

Hope this reaches everyone well. So during quarantine have added to my collection and have also been sampling some new ones.
I’ve been looking to add to my fall/winter fragrances. I’m looking for something that’s good for indoor/outdoor, mass pleasing, and versatile.

    What I currently have:

    Millesime Imperial
    Aventus
    GIT
    Nio
    Naxos
    Oud Wood
    Spicebomb
    Dior Homme
    Dior Homme sport

    Samples I’ve been considering:

    Carlisle
    Herod (performance a little weak)
    Layton
    Jubilation XXV
Side Effect (some similar notes as Naxos)
Rehab (a little too close too spicebomb)
    Enigma/Creation-E PC
Spicebomb Extreme (wasn’t crazy about the time I tried it)
    Original Santal

There’s a couple others from Initio on my list to try. I seem to lean towards scents with tobacco in them, but doesn’t have to be. I feel like something with a boozy accord would be a nice addition, side effect seems like it’s in the lead so far.

Any thoughts on these or any others are appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe check out Lalique Hommage L'Homme. Solid tobacco scent and good cold weather performance, with a bonus it's less expensive than most on your list......

You might seriously consider Tom Ford Tobacco Oud and Tobacco Oud Intense. The former is my favorite tobacco frag. So much so, that after two years of constant wear, I burnt myself out of it. The latter adds a rich amber with an animalic hint. Incredible as well.

Personally, I plan on enjoying Grand Soir, Gucci Guilty Absolute, Nicolai New York Intense and Private Blend Beau de Jour for the fall alongside my usual favorites.

I’ve tried Tobacco Oud and it was pretty good. I have to give it another try. A lot of people say that it’s a polarizing fragrance though.
Grand Soir is a great amber, but wow is that stuff strong. I had people smelling me 20 feet away lol

I would recommend the tobacco trio from Zara:
    Rich Warm Addictive
    Unexpected Fresh Spicy
    Intense Dark Exclusive

While Zara's offerings might not be of the highest quality, this particular trio will help you decide which tobacco type of fragrance you want to settle on for your collection. Price point makes these very easy too - you can get 2 of the 3 for less than 20 euros.

I don‘t know any from your samples list. But since you say you‘d like to differentiate a bit, these are very nice fall/winter scents that are different from your collection, but not too out there:

Puredistance M, as Freewheeling suggested (spicy leather. Lasts forever, complex, changing)
    Papillon Anubis (incensy, slightly gourmandy)
Hiram Green Hyde (smoky... something... I love it. But for some, hard to digest during the first 60 mins.)
Histoires 1740 (boozy spicy leather. Complex, seductive, but you have to be ok with Immortelle)
Burberry London (boozy-fruity tobacco. Current version does not last though)
Tom Ford Lost Cherry (Maraschino Amaretto cherry tobacco. I like it better than some, the tobacco aspect is nice. Below average staying power)

Completely different fall/winter stuff, just if you feel like trying something new:
Histoires Noir Patchouli (earthy, solemn patch)
    19-69 Kasbah (honeyed Oriental)
    - both great scents
    Current Top 10:
    1. Nicolaï - New York Intense
No order: Histoires de Parfums - Noir Patchouli, Tauer - L‘Air du Désert Marocain, Ralph Lauren - Polo, Gucci - Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Homme, Papillon - Anubis, Nicolaï - Patchouli Intense, Puredistance - M, Pascal Morabito - Or Black, Etienne Aigner - No.1 (1975), and 1740, because Basenoters always bend the rules ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Currently wearing: Lonestar Memories by Tauer

I'm going to recommend something that I really enjoy in the fall/winter. I noticed you don't have anything Patchouli dominant in your lists, so my suggestion is a boozy patchouli.....

Frederic Malle Monsieur - an excellent strong boozy patchouli fragrance.

I don’t like it. It’s got this fruity floral note, almost like Osmanthus or apricot but more floral that annoys me after a while and I find there’s a strange spicy-waxy quality to the saffron that I don’t enjoy. It feels too thick, loud, and heavy in some ways. I was so excited to buy that one too, but it’s not for me. Initio Blessed Baraka is very similar, but with a stronger woody base and possibly more synthetic musks. I don’t like that either.

By the way, Side Effect and Naxos will not overlap.

I like most of the stuff you already own a lot.

I don't know if we have similar likes or not, but my two cents:

JUBILATION XXV- just a must have. No it's not versatile per se, just really good. A skosh dressy to me.

PUREDISTANCE M- Really good. Fits in with your other quality scents.

LUBIN IDOLE- A really good boozy scent- kind of like a Bay Rum but much hipper.

CHANEL EGOISTE- Just a great scent- ahead of its time. Worth sampling. Cinnamon, rosewood, sandalwood.
Between Covid and retirement I don't get out much. But when I do, I smell real good.

Frederic Malle Monsieur - an excellent strong boozy patchouli fragrance.
Sounds intriguing. How would you say the patchouli is in this? Earthy?

It feels too thick, loud, and heavy in some ways. I was so excited to buy that one too, but it’s not for me. Initio Blessed Baraka is very similar, but with a stronger woody base and possibly more synthetic musks. I don’t like that either.

By the way, Side Effect and Naxos will not overlap.
Thanks for the input. Side effect is really solid !

Carlisle is very unimpressive to me, loud? Yes, various sweet notes? Definitely, in a good way? No. It's like wearing 5 suits on top of another.
I agree the quality of Jub and Creation E are a step above. I still have yet to give my sample of Creation E a full wear. That’s an interesting way to describe Carlisle. It’s a little busy lol

I appreciate the input thank you sir !
