    Eau de Parfum
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Good morning!
I'm starting the week in Cheap and Chic I Love Love by Moschino. I'm still thankful for Kotori who suggested it in a budget wardrobe thread more than a year ago - I tried it and fell in love slowly. It's a truly lovely, happy and refreshing creamy and cedary citrus thing to enjoy through the summer. Very uncomplicated, very affordable and therefore great for work, too. My grapefruit and orange-loving heart is full of joy.

Quarry, I hope your appointment and surgery goes well today. And then you'll be able to come back home to fully heal and continue to not communicate with strangers!
By the way, I read a bit through the backlog of SOTD threads with my coffee this morning since I missed some, and I'm flattered by your kind words - thank you! Though I'm sure you actually meant our dear Khanada - her threads are very interesting and I love her insights, and she was the one worrying about the reviews not showing. I'll take your kind words as a compliment for us both anyway, as I love some compliments.

Khanada, if you're reading this, I'm impressed by your insights, knowledge and curiosity, too! As for reviews not showing - it usually takes somewhere between 2 and 5 weeks for them to be reviewed and to show up. It's a hard wait, I know, but they always show up eventually. If the wait is too much for you, you can take the NCal's advice and go the BN Plus route - Plus members have their reviews published right away + they get some additional perks. I'm thinking of probably joining, too, mostly because I'd like to support this great site.

Sunnyfunny, I loved the photo of you and your dad, too! As a granddaughter of a farmer, I had some taste of a farm life, too - it's both very hard and very rewarding!

Have a good start of the week, everyone!

Good morning all !. Thoughts are with Mrs Q for her surgery today. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Only three more days of this wretched heat / humidity to endure. Should be starting to relinquish it's grip by Thursday and normal service will hopefully resume by the weekend On the downside, back to work tomorrow

    Morning all!

kewart, l wouldn't envy us the heatwave, because along with it we have almost unbearable humidity here. l felt quite weird yesterday because of it, & had to lie outside in the shade for a couple of hours after our lunch. This meant l had to be in the front garden, but at least we have a lot of mature shrubs helping to hide me from passers by! l haven't slept well the last few nights, & it was already above 28 degrees in the house when l got up around 7 am today. l'm really not looking forward to my late shift.

Wearing Ensoleille Moi today, somewhat ironically.

Sampling Heretic Dirty Mango. Got mango in the initial spray, but also this odd butter note. I bought the discovery set but was sad to see that Dirty Ginger had totally leaked in transit. I was looking forward to trying it very much. But the box smells nice.

My thoughts are with Quarry this morning, hoping there were no complications and surgery accomplished its goal.

I heartily join those wishing Jon and teardrop more temperate weather and sound sleeping ASAP! We had dark-as-night skies and 70 mph straight line winds here at 10:00 am this morning. Maybe some of those winds will eventually blow cooler air your way!

Thinking of you, Quarry, and hoping for a successful outcome

Sunnyfunny, thankfully, I did not finish the pie. I managed to restrain myself and had just the one slice

I’ve decided there is no point to restraint when it comes to my Sarrasins decant. Golly, I love this jasmine. It seems like Sarrasins and A La Nuit continue to be the jasmine fragrances that float my boat. I should probably just embrace that and add bell jar #2 to my collection.

I’m apparently on a BWFs kick right now. Probably not surprising, given the heat and humidity.

    Hello and best to everyone—

Just a quick spritz for now—and signing the virtual FFD card for Quarry. This thread will be different without her . . . .

Sympathies also to those in the UK, suffering through this punishing heat, without the devices for climate management, that we take for granted, in the southern US. I have been without AC, in high summer, and nobody sleeps—even relaxing is almost impossible. Teardrop, I am trying to imagine you, your neighbors, and the bushes. I feel your discomfort, but my imagination keeps going to scenes from the classic English comedy shows we grow up with in America—Hyacinth and Richard(?) (is her husband’s name Richard?) Bucket, with Hyacinth peeping on the neighbors through their curtains, and misconstruing things, with her husband trying to mollify her.

ClockWork Alice—you are the sweetest thing. I love your posts, too . I read, somewhere—was it here, in FFD?—that COVID is keeping Grant unusually busy, with young children at home full time.

I noticed that the sun was much lower, today, than it usually is, when I wake up, and it brought up the bittersweet feeling, from at least 3 decades ago, of August, and late summer, the last 2 or 3 weeks, before school started again, in September. We just had our tax-free weekend, first established for back-to-school shopping. (I bought perfume, and a couple of blouses )

Today, I wanted to wear amber, but a summer amber, with a refreshing citrus. I suppose, Fleur de Corail, is correctly considered an Oriental, but, I think I’ve read, that all ambers are also Orientals (but not all Orientals are Ambers). It reminds me of something that I have smelled before. Musc Ravageur is a very close cousin, but that is not what I am remembering. There is a subtle greenness, a soapy neroli, with the amber accord. And it is salty. Very nice, for high and late summer. The saline makes me want to go swimming, not that our local water bodies are salt water. Still, I miss the lake, swimming, and the little beach we visit, during the week, when the LL Bean crowd is working in the city. Usually, this time of year, I am in full Pirate Mermaid gear. I haven’t been swimming once this summer. I am becoming maudlin. Better to stop there

Time to go putter in the garden on the back deck. That will sort me out.

    Hmm . . . I suppose, that this is not a short post anymore . . . .
