It's the calm after the storm again this morning.
it rained so much last night that our flat roof got filled
with water and started pouring into the front hallway
via the letterbox and window vent. Luckily my husband
was able to unblock the drainage holes and it all drained
away from the roof but he was out there in the mother of
all storms bless him at 9.30 at night.

My SOTD is Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia.

Morning all, Happy Birthday Comdiva , & congrats easyfish on your milestone!

Goodness kewart, glad your hubby is ok!

lt's overcast here, & still very warm & humid. l have two days off, & today l'm off to the hairdresser's. lt's six months almost to the day since my last visit, & l'm really looking forward to seeing my stylist friend & having a proper professional cut again. Cutting my own hair was fun in the beginning, & l got a sense of achievement from knowing l could do it. But it's very time-consuming & it got boring in the end. l'll also be doing a couple of other things l've not done in months, i.e. travelling on the bus & going to the town centre shops. l probably won't linger long, but l want to get a feel for how things are now.

Needing something special to mark the occasion, l'm wearing Tuberose Gardenia today.

Thank you ClockworkAlice and HouseOfPhlegethon for the well wishes.

I looked up my surgery and loss of taste and smell is a side effect. My surgeon never mentioned it. It can last weeks or months and possibly not return at all.

I put on L'Instant this morning, which is my strongest scent, I can't smell it at all. Nothing. I'm moving into the very worried zone.

Really enjoyed my trip to the salon today, it was great to see my old friend, get a head massage & a proper cut. My stylist was impressed with my DIY cutting skills, & said l'm better at it than some professionals she's seen! She also complimented me on my SOTD.

Riding the bus was ok: it was nice not having any strangers coming to sit next to me, but it was hard going wearing a mask in the humidity, so l didn't linger long at the shops. l got a sandwich & went & sat in the shady park for a while, which was bliss.

l timed it well too, because not long after l got home we had a torrential downpour & a few rumbles of thunder here. Not quite as spectacular as l was hoping for, but it's a start.

Post shower (all those bits of hair were sticking to my sweaty body, ugh!) l'm wearing Caligna.

lemonlimelady, how awful that your surgeon never mentioned this! Aren't they meant to discuss all the risks & benefits with you before you sign the consent form?!

Fervently wishing for the swift return of your senses & sending you positive vibes.

He didn't spend much time with me, maybe 15 minutes total. It's really bizarre. I can't even explain how much of a total loss it is. I emailed him.

Thank you, I need all the positive vibes I can get right now.

Hello, everyone, and thanks for the B'day wishes!

Congrats on the upcoming posting milestone, easyfish, healing vibes (including for sense of smell restoration!!) to lemonlimelady, and kewart, I'm so glad your hubby is okay - hope your roof and the rest of the house is, too!

It's been a lovely birthday so far - I took the day off from work and have spent the morning lounging in my pajamas and wearing my 'Birthday girl!' pin. I'll transfer it to my regular clothes whenever I manage to get dressed. My kids zoomed me a birthday greeting this morning - Recreating what I always did/do on their birthdays: Marching in at the crack of dawn with cards and gifts, humming the 'Happy Birthday' song. They got me the new Jim Butcher/Dresden Files book - many years in the making because life happened to the author and knocked him off track for awhile - plus an IOU for the *next* book in the series, scheduled to come out next month. Also a delicious cortado coffee and my choice of chocolate or almond croissant (I picked some of each).

SOTD - right! Wearing the fragrance I bought during my husband's and my big trip to Italy almost a year ago: Merchant of Venice Imperial Emerald. Love this! Plus it conjures great memories of the trip. Feels like years ago rather than months. So much has happened.

Thrilling (in a good way!) Thursday to all.

Imperial Emerald fragrance notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Pink pepper, Iris, Ylang ylang, Rose, Lily, Lily of the valley, Tuberose, Orange flower, Amber, Vanilla, Benzoin, White musk, Patchouli

It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson
