Question A novice with renewed interest...Suggestions greatly appreciated!

    Hello All-
I have been a member for years but haven't visited the site in quite a long time. The reason (s) for my return: My favorite Fall/Winter frag is discontinued and I'd like some feedback on frags with similar notes & character, also the cool weather always brings me greater interest in exploring scents (why I don't really know). So my signature frag for years has been Tocca Brigitte. I see a few sellers have a partially used flacon, or one or two sellers offering an unopened bottle at a pretty high cost. Can anyone direct me to the encyclopedia (to find similar scents) or have some suggestions for me? I am pretty adventurous when it comes to fragrances. My fragrance wardrobe includes several ideas regarding my preferences. Thanks so much!

Welcome to you cocteautwinn! Enjoy your time here at Basenotes! Perhaps Dancing Ribbon by Nina Ricci. It seems to have many of the same notes.

Welcome back to Basenotes! My only recommendation is checking out Ebay. Their prices for Tocca Brigitte are expensive, but if it's your favorite fall/winter fragrance than it may be worth it.

The most popular perfume app in China says these are similar:

    Britney Spears Hidden Fantasy
Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge
    Histoires de Parfums Vidi
Olivina Napa Valley Saint Bart Nomad

Maybe you can read about them. I'm sorry, I haven't tried these. So I don't know much about them.

    Hello and welcome back, cocteautwinn!

I haven't smelled Brigitte, but I checked the reviews and notes and it seems like one of the kind. It's fruity, it's spicy, it's gingery, it's also woody, a little floral and probably balsamic, too, has lots of saffron and yet is light and cheerful, almost gourmand but not exactly foody! Only some scents that have also been discontinued spring to mind and that would be no use here. I don't think you can find the exact dupe, but maybe we could collectively give you ideas on what else to try - what wouldn't be exactly similar, but also warm, spicy and cheerful.

My suggestions for you to try (again):

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique - ginger, vanilla, orange blossom and all the other stuff. I wear and like EDP which is boozier and more vanillic, I think you need EDT which has more ginger and spice.

Hermes Twilly - ginger, sandalwood, tuberose. It's not fruity, but try it, it's good, spicy-soft, creamy and joyful.

Chanel Coco EDT - this could be your autumn in a bottle, a more serious and truly spicy one. EDT is a bit lighter, smoother (not as spiky) and more balsamic.
If I think of something else, I'll add some more. But it seems like Brigitte was great.

    Welcome back, cocteautwinn!

l suggest Hermessence Ambre Narguile, & ELd'O Like This. ln fact l found that wearing the two of these together makes for a delicious combination!

Well, there is a Search by Note spot on fragrantica. I went through the suggestions after plugging in the top 3 notes of Brigitte Tocca and then looked at the fragrances on the list. Hednics suggestion of Ricci Dancing Ribbon seems to be the best suggestion from the list.
    I smell.

    Hi Clockwork-
Thanks for your response! Brigitte really is OOAK. For me, the rhubarb & saffron stand out. I cannot imagine why Tocca discontinued it. I have emailed them begging to adding back into production. Alas, they tell me Gia is similar. It is not. Gia is like every other fruity floral. Pretty meh.

Many great suggestions already mentioned, also adding L'Aair du Temps by Nino Ricco and most classic Diors along the lines of (but not limited to) Dolce Vita, Escale a Portofino and/or Escale a Pondicherry, Je Reviens by Worth

Just thought of another that you might enjoy: Tiptoeing Through Chambers of the Moon by Pilar & Lucy. Tuberose, amber & a buttery vanilla combine with ginger, cinnamon & incense to make a deliciously warming winter scent. l used up my bottle some time ago, but l see it's still available from Luckyscent. l could go for another bottle of this one myself...
