Do you like a particular fragrance for its smell or for the effect it has on you ?

    Both. but mainly the former.

I feel the impact, besides how you feel about the qualities of the smell itself, can elevate to a psychological impact that can be tied to feelings from your past, or primal feelings from scent associations (still psychological to me). I've yet to feel a non-psychological, direct, physical, impact from any scents that I've worn. I'm curious to know if others have.

Both. Mostly the former, but sometimes a good perfume can really effect me emotionally.

Oud is quite literally an anti-depressant and anxiety medication. There’s something so soothing about the effect it has on my mind that when I wear an Oud oil it feels more like medicine than it does a fragrance. It’s also why I love Oud based perfumery so much. It’s a chance to experience the narcotic nature of florals and resins to become both medicine and a fashion statement. It’s fantastic.

I don't know if it's possible...I could be wrong. I don't think enough of it gets absorbed and a high percentage of fragrance is alcohol.

In terms of allergies or any other secondary effects: luckily none so far.

In terms of more positive influences, even if most of these or entirely just mere placebo:
most if not all fragrances owned and used in the current lineup, including the merely "tested" of the current wardrobe.

With the disclaimer that all these (and possibly more) opinions, recommendations and/or contributions to this topic are subjective and highly personal alone.

Have you ever worn a really high quality Oud? I get an overwhelming sense of euphoria directly linked to the scent and what I’m inhaling. High quality distillations can even make your mouth go numb by tasting it. The mood lift is apparent and it’s more than just scent association or primal feelings. There’s quite literally a brain buzz you get from smelling the stuff. It’s wonderful.

I have to agree with others stating both. Certain fragrances I wear elevate my senses and seem to give a state of relevance and comfort.

It's of some comfort to me that a large number of perfumers and perfume lovers seem to live to old age and I hear of none of dying from sniffing too much oakmoss and dying Mary Curie style. Just 2 cents.

Edit, I misread the point of the thread entirely haha. I'm not sure but I do use essential oils a lot on skin.

I had to return to see if anyone would go "there". Definitely one you scroll by a little fast then go back to make sure it didn't say what it looked like it did.

I see one couldn't resist the low hanging fruit.

To the op; I did not know that some perfumes enter the bloodstream.
