    Default Bottle OCD (buying testers)

Would you buy a tester without a cap?

I can't bring myself to do it. Maybe it's some weird form of OCD.

Seeing it on my shelf would bother me.

Unless it was a crazy deal that I couldn't pass up.

(but I'd still try to find a cap)

I hadn't till two months ago when I found a bottle of Miller Harris La Fumée Maroc (I believe it's discontinued now) on eBay for a bargain and I couldn't pass up on it.
It did bother me and I had to get a cap from an empty bottle that could fit. This is the only one that I bought which didn't have a cap.

Depends very much on the content and especially if the bottle, even if without cap, keeps the contents properly stored.

If yes, without considering this a sign for OCD, would still very little to not at all hesitate a bottle among a few select favorites, if the price is right and the seller reliable- including without the proper/original bottle cap.

OCD, huh? How about getting it, and then taking the caps off all the other bottles?

I personally wouldn't buy a tester period, let alone one without a cap!

Everytime I can, I buy testers. Why should I pay 20-30% more for.... a cap and a box that ends up in storage after 10 sec??

If I kept my bottles exposed, I might have thought differently (assuming the price difference is less than 5%), but I personally I keep my bottles in the closet in the dark, so...

I've bought a couple of testers without the cap. However, I prefer seeking out testers with a cap, particularly if its a niche tester.

How about testers with an integrated would-be cap and sprayer? Then the sprayer is still exposed.

It's all about the fragrance IMO.

No go for me. It would have to be substantially cheaper. Like $150 for 115 or something. Id try to buy a cap tho.

Or.... Find a cap that works with the bottle you’re purchasing. You could also decant it into an empty spray bottle and make a label. There are plenty of decanting suppliers online.

I own a few testers. Floris 1962 was the last one I’d purchased and it has no cap. In terms of display, my fragrances are out of sight so I’m not concerned about the cosmetics, per se.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

When it's a "unicorn" discontinued fragrance, the uncapped tester is usually the only still-reasonable option, so I buy a capped partial and complete the look (then use the partial first).

    I know, I'm crazy.

I personally do not care for testers or decants. I want my FB, cap, box, and all!

I only do if it comes in a tester box with the sprayer protector or the white box usually has been made to hold the bottle a certain way as to not damage the sprayer or cause leakage. I do this a lot for back up bottles especially if the price is right since I will have a cap for it when I get around to finishing the 1st bottle.

I wouldn't, but not because of OCD, I just find them extremely unappealing visually.

If only more people felt that way then Andy the frenchy and me could get the testers without caps even cheaper than they are now!!!!

It does not bother me. I have bought testers that came in plain white boxes saying TESTER on them. As I keep all my fragrances in their boxes anyway I did not care. I do remember buying Crown Perfumery way back that even thought they said TESTER on the box came in the original boxes and had caps on them which I did not expect. They were going for £2.50 at the time..

I did worry about this, and that's why I had to get a cap off an empty bottle.

Only if it were a discontinued fragrance and an uncapped tester bottle was the only option, and then I would probably decant the whole thing into a large glass atomizer (with cap), and make a nice label for it. Then I would store that in the tester box, if the fragrance came with one. I like to have both a cap and a box, but they don't necessarily need to match.

If that's the only way to get a fragrance, sure I would buy it. That is NOT OCD, but just the way it is sometimes. By the way if anybody has bottle cap for a Creed GIT and Creed Neroli Sauvage (both the old bottle style - pre '17 - 4.2 oz) let me know so I can get these capped up. I will pay!
