Default Fragrance for a dapper gentleman

    Good day all!

I have an uncommon request. Could someone, please, recommend me a set of perfumes for a dapper 80 years old gentleman? It is about my Grandfather, he is turning 80 soon and I really want to get him something special. He is still super sharp, has little issues with moving around so very self sufficient. Of course we are around to assist if needed. He always says that I smell good (Fahrenheit) and he is too old for such shenanigans. Well, I want to prove him wrong. I am afraid that Fahrenheit may be a bit too strong that is why I am turning to you for help!

    Welcome to Basenotes!

I would also start with something simple like:
    - Armani Eau Pour Homme
    - Chanel Pour Monsieur EdT
    - Dior Eau Sauvage EdT
    - YSL Pour Homme

All of these are pretty much very similar to each other and are fairly mainstream, easy to find, designer scents.

Also FLORIS do a whole series of scents perfect for a dapper gent and have cheap samples available online. They have a royal charter so must have provided colognes for some VERY dapper gents in their time.

Hello! It's warm in Australia now, right? How about Guerlain Vetiver? I think this one is very mature, reliable, and responsible.

Monsieur de Givenchy is also very good for warm weather. You can buy the new version, it's not expensive at all. And I think it smells similar to other fragrances like Chanel Pour Monsieur. I have both of those, and I wear Givenchy more.

Good suggestions. Adding Habit Rouge by Guerlain.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

For some more affordable choices, how about some of the Aramis fragrances, such as the original Aramis, or Aramis Havana? I have heard they are both very good.

Good idea! I definitely think original Aramis, Havana, and Tuscany would be great choices!

Also a fine suggestion. Might be a bit metallic and harsh depending upon his taste.
