Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Woke up a bit early today. Giancarlo's visiting friends/family in Orlando so I'm home alone and maybe I'm not used to sleeping alone...or maybe it's too much thinking (work has been challenging). I had my two interviews yesterday for the Manager position in my department. They went well. Let's see how it goes. In the meantime my department has a lot of moving parts. 1 only in her Week 2, 2 team members in their Week 1 and 1 new team member starts Monday. Nonetheless, I need to detach from my thoughts - I don't need to be 'on' on the weekends at home. I'm going to be Present as much as possible today and tomorrow.

The rest of my sample of this one:

    Vetiver 46 by Le Labo

It really does remind me of Gucci Pour Homme, the one Tom Ford did when he was there. That was my pre-BN fragrance staple - I guess I didn't realize what a classic it was until I got here and then soon realized Gucci discontinued it.

Tdem just inspired me to take a break from the Sycomore and wear some vintage Diorella today. Great weather for it -- a little warm for autumn, high 70sF, but no humidity and a nice breeze, leaves falling all around. Can hardly wait 'til I'm well enough to do some serious cold weather cooking and baking.

    Evening all!

After a much-needed long lie in, a cooked breakfast, a little light housework & a hot bath, l'm finally scented in Cashmere Musk by Ava Luxe. lt's pouring with rain outside, but we're getting cosy with more Harry Potter on the TV & lamb shanks in the oven.

    Good luck, mike!

I love this scenario, teardrop! Harry Potter never gets old, especially combined with rain and savory cooking.

I'm wearing Givenchy Encens Divin. Finally, perfume weather has arrived here!

    Morning all,

There is nothing like being awakened by a strong, “what the hell is that?” headache-inducing chemical blast, which is how today began. I think It smells like something industrial is happening in my downstairs neighbors’ bathroom; they must be refinishing the bathtub: or something equally noxious. Some notice would have been nice, as the fumes are powerful, even if they are only seeping through the drains. I’ve got the worst of
It managed with a stopper, some towels, an open window, and multiple fans. And open windows all over the house—thank goodness it’s a gorgeous day, sunny but reasonably cool and breezy.

I’m house twinning with tdem and cook.bot, in a generous dose of Diorama. I’d like to fill out my classic Dior quintet with this (a fruity chypre of obvious Roudnitskan origins), Dioressence (a green chypre with a touch of leather, in the same vein of things as Private Collection and Givenchy III), and Diorling (the “tender” younger sister, I think—I get mostly ambered jasmine from its current state, not so far away from Rogue Jasmine Antique). I just polished off my most recently acquired stash of Diorella, which I always considered singularly irreplaceable, until I smelled Ormonde Jayne’s Tiare, which I have seen compared to Cristalle, but is much closer to Diorella, especially since I don’t get any patchouli from Cristalle, and Diorella (and Tiare)’s signature accord is its plump but still delicately calibrated citrus and jasmine plus an elegantly rendered but still stanky hippie patchouli—an olfactory reflection of the current taste for bohemian clothing and home decor, peasant blouses and Moroccan wedding blankets in a bottle.

What ties these all together, to my nose, is the spectacular quality of their jasmine. It sits right between Chanel’s silvery-slim and Guerlain’s much more curvaceous rendering of the same flower. Dior’s is indolic and has a touch of spice, which tethers it to Diorama’s sour plum. Am I raving? I wonder how much of the chemical fumes from downstairs are affecting my head. I’ve got all the windows open now, and I best sign off, to track down the neighbor and find out what exactly we’re breathing up here.

When will you find out if you got the position?

I like Vetiver 46 although there are other vetivers that I would prefer over it. Still a decent creation from Le Labo, one of the better ones imo.
