In my experience not many people in America wear fragrance outside of special occasions or body sprays etc which could be a reason why experiences like this are common.. While in Europe I noticed fragrance to be a much more common thing.. Everyone was wearing some type of designer fragrance! The only time someone's fragrance would ever bother me is if I had an active headache/migraine but even then I would keep it to myself.. Fragrance is something personal so I don't think people should have the right to tell you what you should or should not wear.. Personally because of how little I actually smell fragrance on others, because of how weak so many designer fragrances have become, when I smell a fragrance as someone's walks past me I quite enjoy it being that it doesn't happen often.. Just my opinion!

I can't help but agree. It seems that more and more folks are trying to customize every aspect of their lives in a solipsistic manner like some silly Starbucks order including the very people around them. It also seems indicative of what we now prioritize.

Found a sample of that in the old box of samples this month. It was real nice at one hour, okay at 3 hours, and completely disgusting by about 4 hours and lasted a long time in that state. Depending on when you put it on I might move to the next car too.....

I just find this one of the hazards of being a Basenoter/fraghead. We, more than the average person, are going to occasionally run into someone inordinately sensitive to scents that will react theatrically or otherwise negatively to a scent we are wearing.

It really won't matter if it's a cheapie or a masterpiece.
Between Covid and retirement I don't get out much. But when I do, I smell real good.

It was a woman funnily enough over 65.
I used to think women were more tolerant towards fragrances but I don't think that's true anymore.
I find Zino much more pleasant than some of those 70's beasts. The patchouli in it is wonderful but I suppose it has a sharp element to it. This woman was over reacting in my opinion acting like she can't breathe. 4 sprays is not that much but it had been sprayed about 15 minutes before so it was projecting all right.

    Good. Die then, already.

Don’t you really wish you’d told them off like this? Perhaps they could have carried on worrying about real problems instead.

I'm wearing Zino right now and it just smells fantastic. Coty would never make something this good now and all the davidoff fragrances they have made since they bought the rights to the name are sub par. This smells like it could be from the Tom Ford private line and it's probably superior to many fragrances from that line. Definitely niche like and the prices for Zino are so cheap these days it's almost a crime. Longevity is merely good though it's not gonna last 15 hours. At that price there is going to be 1 shortcoming I suppose.

I had a similar "incident" with Live Jazz last year again a woman made a scene and switched seats. Live Jazz is not liked here!

Bingo. If we all tried to look at things from the other’s point of view, understanding would take a higher seat at the table and I think life would be better all round. Good and better times are here if we make them. I also keep in mind that the internet can distort and make minor into major or vice-versa.

Zino- a great option especially in its affordable price category, therefore having quite a few difficulties to imagine as to how this fragrance would get such feedback

I think the part "sprayed 15 min prior" did it. Many fragrances are way too strong when just sprayed and can induce such bad reactions. I think one should not spray more than once when already AT work if they want to avoid these situations.
I don't think she was necessarily overreacting too much - I have perceived choking perfume clouds from people in the street. But smelling it on the street is fine as you just pass along and might even think it's very nice this way - and irritating if you have to be close to the person for a longer time. Some aromachemicals project way better than we think and can be very stingingly sharp to the nose in an enclosed area. Maybe you are a bit too hard on the lady.

I've oversprayed Royal Water once. It can be done. I was nose-blind to it and though I needed more. It was a mistake. I've since learned from that. Fragrance is a learning experience for each one.

If 'you' like Zino, then wear it. Don't let someone's opinion discourage you. I'm sure I like dozens of scents that 'someone' 'somewhere' likely doesn't like. I'm not going to stop wearing what I enjoy. And I'm sure The Cologneist likes stuff I probably don't like. Do I want him to stop wearing those? No way.
