Default Incense,Resin, Coniferous, Vetiver recomendations, fresh and easy wearing

    Hello,

looking for some incense fragrances, but not pure Incense... something like
crisp and shiny Frankincese and fresh Firm Balsam, Vetiver, juniper berry or coniferous resins or wood. Easy wearing in mornings

not necessary this notes of frankincense, and vetiver but similar vibe.

    Thanks

I just bought and smelled a recently discontinued aftershave/cologne from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements (I'm wearing it tomorrow), and it fits your requested description. It's called "Vetiver Planet". It smells like an Earthy Resin with an almost Ashy-Incense and the Vetiver seems to be a bit fused with Black Pepper. The incense smells faint much like campfire ash that is pressed into damp earth and hangs vaguely in the air. It's a rather dark take on Vetiver. I really enjoy smelling it. It's got a kind of addicting quality to it. I am very surprised by the quality of this one and if you can find it, I am recommending it. It's punching WAY above its weight. The artisan has seemingly comic book like presentation and advertising, but do not judge the scent on that. There are even strands of aged vetiver grass floating inside the aftershave/cologne bottle....and the scent strength is more like an EDT, not a cologne. I'm kicking myself for not buying this a long time ago. Now that it's been discontinued (and maybe they will bring it back on a 'seasonal' basis), I am a bit disappointed. I would've liked to have recommended this one to this forum when it was still available. Sorry about that.

Lalique Encre Noire Extreme leads off with the incense and has the usual vetiver that ll the EN's have, but is missing the fir/conifer you are looking for....

True, no incense in Bottega Veneta PH Extreme. That said, OP specified:

Jubilation XXV comes to mind. It does have frankincense and myrrh, but it is wrapped around a fougere accord. Very wearable and likeable generally.

Comme des Garcons Hinoki (meditative hinoki wood and some incense - think Japanese steam baths)
    Comme des Garcons Sugi (cypress-resinous-woody)
Comme des Garcons Artek Standard (resinous wood - think wood workshop)
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles (coniferous-incense)

I've tried this one and I found it similar Hinoki and Sugi by Comme des Garcons. I prefer both the CdG fragrances as they have a bit more edge to them and longevity. Not to say HWYL is a bad fragrance, it's not...it's actually quite good I just found it slightly redundant to the two aforementioned CdG scents that I own.

Comme des Garçons Kyoto or Hinoki.

Or Hwyl. I too find Hwyl to be very similar to Hinoki. To my nose, the main differences are that Hinoki has a synthetic steam note in the opening and the base is musk while Hwyl's base was more dry moss and frankincense. I couldn't justify owning both Hinoki and Hwyl.

    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.
