Ineespenes - I'm jealous for that Nick Cave concert movie! Have a great time in the theater. Our theaters won't show it - but the concert will be streamed on the radio in Lithuania and I guess listening to some radio is in order!

I like the bottle of Oh Ma Biche, too! It actually smells juuust like Bellini cocktail - it's peachy, juicy, sparkly, sweet, but not too sweet, and very fun to wear. Nothing serious about it!
It's also a fruitier/summerier/less gourmand flanker of Lolitaland which I haven't smelled unfortunately. But I've seen ineespenes wearing that one and I think she likes it

    Afternoon all!

l have a couple of days off, & this morning l went unscented for my appointment with the dental hygeinist. lt was only slightly painful, & my appointment with the dentist is next week because they couldn't give me the two slots together. l enjoyed my walk in the beautiful sunshine, admiring the autumn colours, & appreciating being able to hear the birds again.

l'm now trying my sample of Majaina Sin, at long last, & doing a bit of pottering.

Jon, if my guess is right, I've been *DYING* to try it once the exclusivity period expires. I'll be interested to see which version (Man or Woman) you picked up. I almost always need to sample that house before buying, Journey Woman being the lone (and spectacular!) exception.

The gorgeous weather is holding -- mid 70s, golden sunlight, and the wonderful smells of autumn harvest all around (sweet, dry things). Inspired by the beautiful day ahead, Hiram Green Arbole Arbole is my SotD.

Trilby Lark, I love how you think! Nature walks, hiking, self-care and a PJ party sample swap sound terrific!

SotE: Amouage - Interlude Black Iris.

This fixes all the issues I had with Interlude while still retaining the dna. The previously overpowering oregano is now absent and the addition of cedar in the base tones down the unrelenting density of the original. The iris is just delightful and the powerful smokiness is replaced with an aroma similar to toasted marshmallows that is ridiculously addictive. This is still a powerhouse but it is done with a lighter hand and consequently boasts the versatility that was lacking in the original. Superb

ExtremeK disregard the marketing and sample. I can see you really liking this one

Dang! I was wrong! I was betting you had picked up Overture! David is going to get the original Interlude for Christmas (he doesn't know it, though). It's spectacular on him -- no oregano overpowering. I personally have been wanting to try Interlude Black Iris -- the incense and smokiness of Interlude were overwhelmingly acrid on me. So I will definitely try this one. It sounds wonderful!

I'm wearing Black Opium from my brand new bottle that came yesterday. I took advantage of Macy's 15% off sale. I ignored Black Opium when it first came iut. I suppose I'm a late adopter.

Jon, that Black Iris sounds like one I need to try -- even though most Amouages are too thick and opulent for me, that one sounds delightful.

Today I'm going to start working my way through some Parfum d'Empire samples, starting with Aziyade. Wow, this is quite something, even for oriental-averse me. Orange, cumin, frankincense, musk... pure carnality, suitable for seduction only. Definitely not PG-rated.

Aziyadé is semi-autobiographical, based on a diary Loti kept during a three-month period as a French Naval officer in Greece and Constantinople (now Istanbul) in the fall and winter of 1876. It tells the story of the 27-year-old Loti's illicit love affair with an 18-year-old "Circassian" harem girl named Aziyadé. Although Aziyadé was one of many conquests in the exotic romantic's life, she was his greatest love, he would wear a gold ring with her name on it for the rest of his life.

This morning I was luxuriating in the pleasure of spending an extra half-hour under a mountain of quilts on a cold, clear morning when I suddenly realized: no morning chorus of birdsong, and there hadn't been for several days. Which is odd, since we're usually a very noisy stop on the southbound migration of several species. A consequence of climate warming, perhaps, if they're staying longer in the north?

Which led me to think that it would great to have an alarm clock that woke you to a bird chorus instead of a digital shriek. I immediately thought "Surely someone has invented that...", but a quick search revealed not a single offering. There was a white noise machine that offered birdsong as one its "natural soundscapes", but nothing that functioned as an alarm.

    I sense a marketing opportunity.
