I'm over BR540

The ride lasted slightly over a year.

It was new, novel, daring. I mean that marigold amplified and accompanied by all the rest.

For a while I might have had the feeling some Creed lovers have with Aventus or another Creed that's their favorite. But not very rightfully so, I think I may have been too much of a Kurkdjian fanboy. Focusing too much on how well it's done. Unconsciously maybe the hype played tricks on me too even though I found out about the fragrance via something not perfume related at all. I feel I cannot defend it anymore if it ever came up.

It's actually because of a clone that sort of broke BR540 down for me and handed the notes back to me but kind of messy. Like making your plate yourself at an all-you-can-eat vs being served one at a decent restaurant. I think I just don't like what's on the plate with BR540.

Anyone else not that fond of the smell anymore ? Or should I say how it makes the wearer smell?

Never cared for it and can't understand why anyone would. I sampled it again yesterday just to see if my opinion might have changed, and I still thought it was horrid.

I still have a 10ml decant that I come back to every six months or so. The outcome is always the same. It just smells too weird for me.

I enjoy it, but I don't think I ever got into because of hype. I don't remember how I even came about trying it the first time. I will say that I do have to find the right occasion to wear it. As with every other fragrance ever created, it's not for everyone.

As for hype, I let go of that a long time ago. I've done this long enough to know that hype can be expensive and disappointing all in one. Give me the notes, I want to see the notes! That's how I gauge my potential interest in a fragrance.

There are aspects of it that I really like, but I wish he'd used something smoother for the base... but he limited himself to only synthetics for BR540 which I can't help thinking led to less smoothness overall.

I'm specifically referring to how the smells up close on skin, hours after you've sprayed it on. Amyris Homme has a similar chemical profile in its base - something sort of prickly that's hard to define.

Haha it's become my current dumb reach after almost getting rid of both my vintage and newer bottles. I'm suddenly obsessed with it. I just love that dry down.

Glad you finally came to your senses. ;-). In my case, it is one of the worst smelling perfumes I have ever sniffed, and *so* potent, too. In this case, that was just about as bad a combination possible.

I fell out with it a while ago. I owned it for about a year (perhaps more) on the advice of my wife who loved it. Unfortunately, this is more creative art than perfume to me. Great scent trail, but not something I want to smell of.

That said, it's the number one best seller by MFK. Even some independent stores list it as being in their top 5 bestsellers.

I’m kind of in the same place right now.

There are two fragrances which I prefer to it, that are similar in some ways—Oud for Greatness and YSL Tuxedo. With these two, I don’t feel compelled to wear BR540 much.

I think BR540 is great. You accept it for what it is or you don’t. I know it’s synthetic straight out the gate, it makes no bones about it - I know what I’m getting. Wear it rarely from samples when I do and that’s how I like it. Plenty of gap between wearings and no loop-the-loops after candy floss time.

I lost faith in BR once I would walk into a Neimans and the entire store smelled like Br. Many ladies working there walked over to the fragranxe counter and did about 4 sprays of it.

I acknowledge that it's potent and well blended, but the scent profile does not appeal to me at all. Besides, I don't wear fragrances for compliments, so BR simply has no value for me, and I left my sample untouched after trying it once.

Only tried it very recently, expecting to dislike it because MFK is usually not my style but ended up liking it. I think it's mainly because it manages that Maltol-like (A*Men) sweet note quite well, so the overall effect is airy and transparent instead of cloying and heavy.

I wore it yesterday and enjoyed the heck out of it. I find it to be a bright, cheery festive scent that I can wear year around. Top 5 for me. My fave from MFK for sure.
