Default Samples or Testers for Oud

We, (my husband and I), love woody (home) fragrances and are interested to learn more about oud. Are there any samples or test kits we can buy to help us learn about, identify and describe oud and other woody fragrances? Thanks

Ensar Oud is an excellent beginners starting point. I’d highly recommend contacting Adam or Thomas Kruger from the Ensar team and asking if they’d put together a basic sample kit for you. Ensar has a very affordable beginners Oud line. It’s totally worth it.

Thank you so much for your reply, I have found their website. I think that may be a little out of our price bracket just for a training exercise.

You’re going to have a difficult time finding any organic beginners Oud that’s worth smelling for less than what he’s charging for samples. Anything cheaper is going to open you up to a whole slew of shady business tactics, cheap chemicals, horrific inoculents and most likely terrible smells. It’s unfortunate but if you’re wishing to explore Oud it’s best to start with quality. Expect a lot of heavy barnyard, fecal, burnt, and stinky feet smells on your journey with low quality oil.

We can't afford to pay thousands just to sniff something we are not going to use. We were just intrigued to see what it is like and how it varies. Thanks for your help.

Wait...you can get samples for like $20 of his organic oils. Every oil has an option to buy .3gram or .1gram samples. You could sample 5 or 6 quality oils for around $150.

As you're in the UK like me, I would recommend paying a visit to Oudbase, The Attar Store and Imperial Oud to sample different types of oud oils as well as oud wood at very competitive prices.Another great brand that gives incredible value is Royal Bengal Ouds.Ish is well known in the community for producing oils at great prices as well as being extremely generous with free samples. You can find them all at:

    https://oudbase.com/
    https://theattarstore.com/
    https://imperialoud.com/
    https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/RoyalBe...s?ref=usf_2020

Hope this helps and if you want to learn further about these brands, you can find them being discussed at https://www.ouddict.com/

Thats perfect advice for someone in GB.
Mellifluence Attars (found on Etsy) also do two oud sample packs at a really reasonable price. Perfect for getting a general idea of regional profiles.

Oh I must have been looking at totally the wrong things on the website. Everything I looked at started at three figures. Would you be kind enough to add me a link to the correct items please? We don't want to use the oud other than to smell them and find out how they should smell. A sample for the two of us to smell is fine. Thank you so much for coming back to the thread.

Thank you so much for your help. This is just a learning exercise for us, we don't want to blend anything ourselves.

Today, everything is different. There's no action. I have to wait around like everyone else. Can't even get decent food. Right after I got here, I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce and I got egg noodles and ketchup. I'm an average nobody. I get to live the rest of my life like a schnook.

Ensar's products are as good as others but overhyped. Some prices have dropped with this vendor due to pressure so that is an improvement. I think the main reason to buy from them would be safety... you don't have to really worry about authenticity but I wouldn't say it is "the place to go" for the best bargains and the best oud. Just one among many and aggressively self aggrandizing. Like the gangster rappers of oud.

Still if you are looking for dirt cheap samples you're basically asking for charity. Quality oud that will show you the beauty is not going to be $5 per sample - just too expensive. You want to eat caviar, SOMEONE has to pay, and that will have to be you I think. . I agree those $300 sample packs were never of any interest to me.

I highly advise you do not buy used samples by the way. Oil In Those little tester bottles oxidizes quickly and do not retain the original scent for long.

I have got a few Ensar Oud samples for sale, some are pure oud oils and some oud attars. Please take a look here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/zakm_786/...?_trksid=p3692

The samples are new and in the condition as received from vendor, so there are no concerns of oxidization.

I have just watched them thanks. I will probably ask you a question via ebay.
