    Hi all,

I happen to find a bottle of the following at a "Yard Sale" yesterday. Seller was asking five dollars, I got it for three dollars. I honestly thought this After Shave (being a "State side" made After Shave) that my offering three dollars was a fair price for a "Yard Sale" item. Welly welly well, color me surprised! Not only does this After Shave smell pretty damn good, since this "Patchouli" is no longer being made, it appears to bring a rather HIGH price on line! Yikes!

Aura of patchouli is a pretty decent patchouli scent, in the vein of givenchy gentleman. Caswell Massey made some good ones, including aura of patchouli, persian leather, greenbriar, sandalwood, number 6 and tricorn. But the tag of "drugstore" in the era of niche, was probably their undoing.

Yeah, I have a feeling I may enjoy it sealed more than open, but we’ll see.

You might want to keep Shocking for yourself. It has loads of civet :-)

Oh, I know: I tried a mini the other day. Dr. T. sniffed me and said, “I want” (not referring to me). I really like the stuff, but it’s not as if I haven’t enough other civet options, and surely I’ll enjoy it at least as much on her. So I gave her the mini and promised her more. I still need to find a proper torso bottle—but not at the going rate!

Cacio pointed out something to me once when I was craving one of those Shocking torso bottles, the one under the bell jar: because they were so decorative, everybody left them out on display all the time, so they suffered far more damage than the usual perfume on the secondary market. Almost impossible to find intact.

I finally reconciled myself to being content with the same square pink label bottle you got, which is damn fine on its own.

Before joining Basenotes I used to own a bottle of Trussardi Uomo and It was awesome, pretty strong and distinct (I didn't care who produced it, couldn't even imagine fragrances were reformulated at any time). Used it until the last drop for 2 or 3 years.
In 2014 or 2015 I decided to buy another bottle from an Italian seller on ebay and I was horrified with its smell: totally flat, no powdery note, less spicy, watered down... Almost a completely different scent. Initially thought I was scammed and It was a fake bottle, although bottle and box seemed ok to me. The bottom of the box was just as the one pictured above: "Selective Beauty SA". After some time, I realized It could probably have been reformulated in a last try to increase sales before discontinuation and launch of the new plain black bottle (which seems to be a different fragrance - I don't know). After getting rid of it, I found an spA Milano version and It smelt just like I remembered!
That's why I was quite surprised when you said Selective beauty version was still pretty strong... Maybe my bottle was really fake...

I made a leap of faith that bottles labeled Cologne were the older, if not the original bottles.
This one is a 3.4oz bottle. I also grabbed a 50ml, made in Holland edt bottle w/85% Vol. noted on box.

Oddly, the bottom of the bottle states 撤arfums Corp., which I thought stopped in 1993, and this is, if I知 not mistaken, a 1995 release.
    Anyhow, gorgeous stuff.

I don't have the slightest idea here, but maybe they had the boxes printed in advance. When the change from Parfums Corp to SANOFI took place it may have delayed the original release date. Rather than throwing the boxes away they just used them up. Back in those days nobody cared or looked at the extra details on boxes.

Actually it’s the bottle that states Parfums Corp.
