John Varvatos Artisan Blu surprised me. When you first smell the sprayer or just experience the first 10 seconds of the top notes, it's easy to dismiss it as some generic modern bleau aquatic. But really, it's more green smelling with some herbalness thrown in. A more modern and mass appealing take on Artisan Acqua.

Beau de Jour was too much for me, but the day I was wearing it, it smelled like high quality. I don't have much experience with TF fragrances, barbershops/fougeres, etc. But to me, it was like a modern and upscale take on Brut. Sweet, powdery, but not sickening sweet like Brut's drydown can be. It's a good scent.

Black edt - Comme des Garcons

It just works. It is dark, smoky yet it manages to be accessible, smooth and meditative. On my skin, I keep wanting to smell it again and again. It does not really evolve much nor does it yield complex note I try to decipher. I am just drawn to it. A very well made fragrance.

I have no idea why it took so long for Opus 1870 to click with me, but wow, it sure has. I'm blown away by how good this stuff is - and by how it wears. I only get moderate projection, but it's very long lasting for me.

Very good stuff and very underrated. I find it sort of a cousin of Declaration d'Un Soir but with a deeper wood base. Beautifully blended.

    H24 by Hermes – don't shoot me

I'm not saying it's a masterpiece but it is a breath of fresh air after wearing heavy-hitters, complex fragrances and "perfumy" perfumes for quite some time. To my nose it's synthetics done the right way, I'm looking at you Sauvage and all the other "shower gel" messes.
