Lenthéric - À Bientôt

Here, I can do no better than to crib from Grace Hummel:

So far, this description is on the money—and so is the fragrance. As disappointing as Cabaña and Tanbark were, so does À Bientôt exceed my expectations, at least in its stellar opening. Fans of vintage “butch” feminines like Tabac Blond, Cuir de Russie, and Emir would likely feel at home with this.

Those Lentheric bottles and the way you describe the scents are very nice; thank you for sharing !

I have no idea and can't compare them as I own only this bottle. I have seen some bottles like mine for sale on Etsy with vendor claiming that it's the 1966 version but I don't know if this is true ...

Apologize for interfering. In the 60s, only the classic square bottles existed (I think) and with full info on the 8-sided "Aramis" bottle-label itself. On/within the label-frame underneath "aramis" it said "estée lauder inc. dist. new york, n.y., u.s.a." (something like that).
I've only ever seen one or two of these 1960s bottles in my life (yup, eBay)

Lentheric Cabana

our SOTD:…and not much to it. Light, dry, and vegetal, like eau de celery and wilting flower. Hoping my SOTE will be better.

I’m wondering if the fact that this is labeled “Lotion” should be considered—this Cabana is probably less concentrated than the “Bouquet Lentheric au Parfum.”

I find the vintage perfume ads funny, nostalgic, and yet still compelling. Before libraries began pulping their bound volumes of old periodicals, I spent many happy hours in the stacks looking at old magazines when I should have been doing my (real) research.

For example, the tagline for Lentheric’s Dark Brilliance has lodged itself in my brain and now makes me want to try the perfume...

“Languid splendour set to fragrance”

It means absolutely nothing, and yet I want to wander the house evincing “languid splendour.”

Check out this ad...a wonderful photo and those huge vanity bottles that mimic the shape of the Dark Brilliance flacon.

Or this...a patent leather glove (???!!!!], gorgeous pavé bracelet or necklace or whatever, and roses. I’m here for ALL of it.

You are welcome to interfere, Marand ! As I said, I do not know how old is my bottle.The label says ARAMIS, E.L.,DIST. Made in England . As often, vendors claim this type of information (I refer to the 1966 date) in order to "justify" a high sale cost !

Sampling for the first time. Not sure the purpose of this one, to be honest. It smells like the original, just not as intense - a "lite" version, if you will. Still nice, though.

Oh, that’s not even a question! The Cabaña lotion is 72°, whereas the bouquets are generally @80°. But Cabaña is super rare, and while I attribute the weakness to its concentration, I wouldn’t enjoy that scent in any concentration.

OTOH, see my subsequent review of À Bientôt.

That can be arranged. I’m pretty sure it will appeal to you.

Interesting. I did not detect any extra citrus in the opening of the Summer sample. However, I did just layer it with some of my Fahrenheit Cologne which has a wonderful citrus opening.
