♥️♥️♥️♥️Thank you, friends across the pond and elsewhere, outside our national boundaries. We need peace here, so badly, right now. I am ready for the change that I think our country needs, and I hope the people who disagree, come around. Sometimes part of the physical healing process involves a degree of discomfort, and I know, as most people, unfortunately, do, from experience, that the same goes for emotional, and psychological, healing, too. I’m braced for the best, if that makes any sense. If it does not, I claim sleep deprivation, as the culprit.♥️♥️♥️

Because I didn’t sleep a wink last night. I often don’t sleep, before I have any kind of medical thing that requires general anesthesia, for some reason, and, when I came to the SOTD thread, I realized that the low level anxiety I always have about these things, is considerably augmented, by the fact that today is That Day, about which so much fuss and bother has been made, for so long. My procedure is scheduled for 1:00, and I hope I will be finished and conscious when the inauguration begins. I also hope the drugs do not make me say something that might upset someone. I think it’s a good day, and regardless of how you feel about the outcome, it’s time to be practical, and move on. We did it four years ago, and if the bf and I could do it then, anyone can. The only constant is change, so no point getting hung up.

I’m wearing vintage Pour Une Homme, my Other Lavender Love ❤️, lavender with a scoop of tonka ice cream. Is it possible there is heliotrope in this? I’m getting some Play-Doh from it. I only have a tiny sample, so I don’t wear it that often, and I never noticed it before. I don’t know how old this sample is, I think it’s from the 60s, and I suppose heliotropin was used more generously then, but I usually do not associate it with masculines. Perhaps I should pose this question in MFD.

I think I will do some Iris Silver Mist for the surgery center (if I have it here in the city, can’t remember what is where), and then switch to L’Heure Bleue later today (ditto).

khanada, my very best wishes for your day. It's a momentous one, to be sure!

I decided to give myself some peace, so I took another hiatus from news and social media (although I couldn't escape the horrific events of Jan 6). It definitely feels like a day of new beginnings, but the healing people are hoping for will be a long time coming. It seems like many people don't want to heal; they're angry and distrustful and nowhere near ready to let any of it go. It may move to the fringes and be more out-of-sight, but that doesn't mean it's gone. My heart hurts for our struggling country.

It's the time of year where, rationally, I know winter has technically just begun but, emotionally, it feels like spring is just around the corner. I'm feeling the pull of what I've come to know as my winter florals: lavender, rose, violets, iris, and, very specifically, Une Fleur de Cassie. Today, I'm all roses and violets, with dollop of powdery skank: ELdO Putain des Palaces.

I woke up happy, calm, and optimistic. SOTD has to be American for me today. Choices! Estee Lauder, Ralph Lauren, niches, etc.

Looking forward to the virtual celebration, which will be kicked off by the Howard University drumline, I hear.
