We seem to be having a repeat of last winter in the UK with floods and warnings all over the country. It is such a relief to live in a location that isn't susceptible. One can only imagine how devastating it must be to spend months clearing up only to be deluged again and back to square one

Hi, everyone!

Joining those who are breathing a sigh of relief at the (so far) smooth transition of power here in the U.S. As I was watching coverage of the inauguration, I caught a cutaway to Bernie Sanders and thought "WHAT is with those mittens?!?" Thought I was the only one, but now apparently Bernie's Vermont-made mittens have made national (at least) news, and have their own Twitter page. https://twitter.com/BerniesMittens

Today I pulled out the "wrong" L'Occitane but decided to make it an exercise in fragrance flexibility. Wearing L'Occitane Labdanum. It's a little lighter than I wanted for today, but still quite lovely, in my opinion.



I may have to wear something Dior tonight in honor of our perfumer birthdays, however...

Yesterday, I spent all day watching the inauguration not once, but twice; once again with Mr. Lark after his work day ended. I enjoyed everything about it and it was far more fullsome than expected, given the Covid and security precautions. What a relief after the events of two weeks ago!

Today, I will endeavor to be productive, although I'm not feeling very motivated.

Puredistance M today. I'm so bored being stuck at home. I read a book a day and lately I have been wanting to spend money. A lot of money, as for a new car, or new furniture for the living room, or a redone patio. But the car I want, a Fiat 500e, isn't sold in the US, contractors are booked solid, and I don't like shopping for furniture, I just want new, like "Poof! It's done!" First world problems.

Jujy, it was fun to read about the inauguration celebration in laundromat! It's good that you were there. I love your photo, by the way, you look very cool.

Oh, thank you! I work with middle schoolers, who for the most part consider me most uncool, which is fine since I consider that part of my job description (I'm a substitute teacher,a good semi-retirement gig). Anyway, last year during Black History Month, which my middle school does big and bold, just before everything shut down, I dressed up for Blackout Friday in a pencil skirt, the School's BHM T-shirt under a ruffled XCVI shrug, my Bloch jazz sneakers, and a beret, all in black. I walked into the room and a girl exclaimed, "Mrs S, you fly!" which started a cascade of "periodt!" (latest affirmation slang at the time) from the other girls. It will always be a highlight of my so-called career, and it was a bonding moment that will serve me well when I return to work.

I'm glad you enjoyed me little anecdote. And the photo. I do look pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Same here. In fact, I got so caught up in watching the footage and reading the papers all day that I forgot to put on any scent at all.

But today I'm back to my virtual Mediterranean holiday, and at Trilby's suggestion, enjoying a long doze in the shade of Grecian fig trees on a warm day. (This smells quite different in the cold than it did back in summer's heat... more green leaf than fruit.)
