Default ISO Reproduction Pharmacy Apothecary Jars...

Hey guys, I am cursed with a vintage nineteenth-century aesthetic. As a Herbalist I would love to store my herbs in a set of DURABLE quart-sized wide-mouth apothecary jars used by Victorian pharmacists (depicted in the link below). I emphasize durable because one will occasionally see them in Craft stores that are very flimsy and useful only for display, not for storage and regular use. Does anyone know of any manufacturers or retail businesses that sell them? Not only would *I* love to display my herbs within them, but I know many, many, MANY people who would jump at the chance to own several. Therefore, it surprises me that they are not still being manufactured more popularly...at least not that I know of.

I have been searching for quality apothecary stoppers myself and the search has yielded frustratingly few results. As for wide mouth though, you may have some luck finding them from chemistry suppliers by searching for "reagent stoppers/bottles" or something along those lines. Here is an example I found with a quick search using the terms "reagent bottle wide mouth".

Thanks, I've seen that Best Bottles site before and their bottles are only large enough for storing perfumes, rather than bulk quantities of herbs.

Junior_Surgion there's clearly a demand for these types of jars, so it's a shame no manufacturers seem willing to produce and sell them. For some reason I've had this intuition prodding me to look in Italy for a resource (I dunno' why?)... It's a shame that manufacturers outside of the U.S. are also hard to find.

Amazon seems to have a selection of apothecary jars. I've bought these and they're good quality, but they're in UV-filtering black glass (so the herbs can't be seen):

There are other clear ones on the site though.

Have you looked at the Verreries Brosse catalogue? They do require large commercial orders, but I believe they're the ones used by perfumers; their stoppers are the ones that are ground glass with plastic inserts.

Verreries Brosse makes the best stoppers I've come across, but the bottles cost around $4 each, the stoppers $6 each, and the MOQ for each is a carton which averages several hundred pieces. Amazing bottles, but probably not a feasible option unless OP wants to drop a few thousand dollars on this.

Oh, I was responding to you on that, not the OP. Sorry for the confusion and for taking the thread off topic.

Oh I see that now, thanks for the input! I have actually been considering purchasing a few cartons from VB since they are the best quality bottles I've ever found, but SO expensive comparatively.

Ok, so if you really are serious, go to eBay and look up scientific or lab equipment and then do a search for maybe "Wheaton" - you should be able to find plenty of options. I have many sizes in wide mouth as well as narrow-mouth with high-quality glass and ground glass stoppers. There are other brands just cannot think of them off the top of my head right now

ETA: Here is a search link I just did on ebay:

Anchor Hocking makes some that are more canister than jar, but definitely apothecary in style:
