    Good morning!
    Happy birthday to ineespenes boyfriend!

This morning I'm wearing Lolita Lempicka Oh Ma Biche - although I still could smell La vie est belle that I got a sample of with a skincare purchase and was testing it on my skin yesterday. That scent is seriously potent, even in small doses. It always felt too sweet and too girly for me, but after actually wearing it for a day I can say I understand its popularity - it wears nicely and feels cozy. My skin brings out more iris instead of more candy sweetness. I definitely don't hate it - although Cook.bot's review of it is one of my favourite things in Basenotes. (Read it! Read it!) The remains of it fits nicely with my SOTD.

    Have a good day!

    Morning all!

lne, Happy Birthday to your BF!

ExtremeK, thank you for your kind wishes. Yesterday was a much better day & l felt more settled & relaxed. l think those weeks of getting by on pure adrenaline took their toll, & l didn't realise it until suddenly the pressure was off, but l had a good chat with a senior colleague & that helped me to process it. My feet are much happier, too!

l have today off, & l'm wearing Smuggler's Soul to do some studying.

CwAlice, thanks for directing us to Cook.bot's review. She's a gem.
Teardrop, I'm glad you found someone to talk with and process your thoughts and feelings. Such conversations/emails/PMs often lifted me up and helped me carry on this winter.

I'm wearing Diorella today. It's definately a favorite. Not much going on today. Maybe I'll do some housecleaning for exercise. I often apply red lipstick, wear a colorful headscarf, and put on some energizing music to make it more fun.

Alice, you're very kind to notice our small attempt at literary satire. But Suspended and I were just trying to imitate the inimitable Anthony Lane and a review he had written in New Yorker magazine. However, La Vie Est Belle really did bring out the curmudgeon in me.

I'm wearing Osmanthe Yunnan, the scent I consider to be the apogee of Jean-Claude Ellena's minimalist aesthetic, even more so than his "Jardin" series. All the complaints about its strength, projection, and longevity are absolutely true, but still it's the most faithful representation I've found of the actual osmanthus flower, with its delicate tea note and reminiscence of apricots. I doubt I'll ever pay retail Hermessence prices for a full bottle, but will always try to have one or two of the little travellers around to experience this transporting aroma.

I slept late today and woke up to spring. 63F/17C, and clear blue, sunny skies. I still feel hungover.

Happy Birthday to your sweetie,Inees. Many happy returns!

Teardrop, it's good to get back into a familiar routine. And good for your feet.

Trilby, ARRRGH, housework for exercise! I was supposed to do that. It never happened. I can do outside work for exercise. The transition to housework for exercise is, lets say, a work in progress. As for decluttering, I got to throw away an empty sample vial yesterday and it felt like a triumph. Perhaps I should try the red lipstick/headscarf trick and see if that sticks. What do I have to lose?

Speaking of which, I had a very light case of food poisoning a few days ago. It was still miserable, and I suppose could have been a GI bug from my Kroger trip since I had a bit of fever. Still in all, I kept thinking through the gut wrenching cramps, "This is bound to be good for my diet." What a way to live! Down a couple of lbs, and still feel like a smudge on the pavement.

Blue sky and sunshine here, so even if the temps are not spring-like, it -looks- like spring. There is a lone daffodil blooming in the back yard. So I went with a spring scent, Lys Carmin.

I had to call American Express today for something, and as I was concluding the call, the rep said, "Thank you for being a customer for thirty years." To me, the '90s feel like five years ago, not thirty. Where did the time go? I'm going to eat some homemade ice cream and ponder the time problem.
