Default Do you wear light fragrances in summer, heavier in winter?

I have Tom Ford Grey Vetiver that I like to wear when it is 70 degrees or more in Memphis. Under say 50, I tend to break out 1740 Marquis de Sade and Chanel Coromandel. In between, I might go for CdG 2 Man or Chanel Antaeus. I tend to like heavier fragrances in colder weather and my thinking is that my body does not heat up as much, or no sweating, to sorta "re-activate" the scent as the day wears on. I find that I can go out and sweat a little when it gets over 80 and scents like AdP Colonia do get reactivated when I sweat and though I could not smell it before after say 4 horus, I can if I sweat.

Now, I know some heavier scents can work in hotter weather, and I might be tempted to wear Coromandel in summer, but not the Marquis de Sade.

I Hednic, I know you will say you wear whatever, whenever, lol

    I wear anything anytime.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

Absolutely. 100% believer in seasonal scents. Can't imagine wearing Amen or JOOP! on the 4th of July. Nor Creed Virgin Island Water on Christmas Morning.

Well, there are whole year rounders and there are heavy hitters that I just can't imagine wearing during summer. It's more doable to wear Bvlgari Aqva during winter than, let's say, A*Men Pure Tonka during summer. So basically yes, I mostly wear the heavier ones during winter.

I think most people do but personally, I’m not as methodical as the OP. It mostly depends on my mood. Although I rarely wear lighter or fresher scents in colder weather, sometimes I like orientals and spicy scents in warm weather. They bloom beautifully.

In Georgia, what's the diff??? haha....

But I'm with Chuck. I like lighter citrus and some aquatics in spring and summer and more dark/heavy leather and/or tobacco in fall and winter. Sometimes I will wear something dark in the evenings. And I always wear Polo year round.

Generally yes, but will wear heavier on summer evenings, or suddenly feel like wearing a lighter, brighter scent in the depths of winter.

The summer here can get hot at times but it's also short. So the vast majority of the time I wouldn't need to think about it much anyway.
    Spray less, love more.

I feel this way too. Also, I don't want to wear fragrances that don't perform like I want them to in the wrong season. An example I always use is PdN NY Intense. It smells completely different in warm/hot weather and performs terribly for me. I just don't like wasting fragrances I enjoy in conditions where I won't enjoy them as much. It also helps to know your fragrances and how they perform though. Things like Kouros and Aramis Havana, seemingly heavier oriental-leaning fragrances, actually perform better for me, and smell better in warm weather.

I tend to do so, but also like to mix it up. Often I wear lighter/fresher scents in winter. Sometimes I'd wear heavier scents in summer, but that's more rare. It also depends a lot on humidity. In dry summers I could easily wear a lot of heavier scents. However, in humid summers that often doesn't work for me.

Exactly my experience with these three perfumes, NYI is best in cooler weather whereas Kouros and Havana really shine in the heat (irrespective of whether dry or humid).

I have not been able to apply lightly with success. The 1740, I wore it today and it is going to be 64. I tried to spritz it on and it still pronounces well. I love it, but in 80 degrees, probably not for me

I never wear light scents. Which means I wear "semi-heavy" or heavy scents anytime.

While I typically don't adhere to seasonality, I find myself naturally wanting lighter in the summer months and I especially avoid anything that could get cloying. I guess because its hot I want something that feels refreshing?

I also don't tend to wear super light fragrances in the winter, but that's more or less because I get worn out by them after months of wanting something light
