Default Most pleasing aroma chemical you've smelled?

I have around 100 or so aroma chemicals and so far, the most pleasing I've smelled is cyclamen aldehyde. It smells like a bunch of pretty flowers. This is a suprising like since I don't really wear floral scents at all!

What is the best AC you've smelled?

I could sit and sniff at a bottle of 1% pyralone (version of isobutyl quinoline) all day!

Good ol' vanillin. I'd use it in everything if not for Schiff base reactions.

Isocyclocitral. I put it on by itself all the time. Too bad it's so fleeting!

Tabanone for sweet/woody and any damascone for floral/fruity, Romandolide for musk.

bonus: Patchoulyl acetate since I love it so much, it mops the floor when it comes to patchouli isolates, and beats any real patchouli eo/abs.

I absolutely second Patchoulyl Acetate and Romandolide has become my favorite musk.

    Also: D-Limonene and Mefrosol

Romanolide and ehtylene brassilate, fixateur 505, damascones, orange peel EO. I like ethyl maltol because it reminds me of candy floss

Heliotropex, benzaldehyde and coumarin also because I like almond-esque smells!

Oh and ambermax/ambrocenide kind of smells as well!

This is difficult as I much prefer mixtures to single AC's, and wouldn't be a fan in general of the idea of wearing single AC's. I don't have a standout. In no particular order, Civettone, Cedrol, Patchoulol, Coumarin, Hedione, Farnesol, Methyl Jasmonate, Heliotropin, Santalol, Iralia, Ambrofix, and Cetalox. That may not be a complete list, it is just what comes to mind now.

Some of these are isomer mixtures, of course, so are not literally single AC's, or are natural isolates.

I really don't tend to grab individual AC's and "Drink it in, man!"

Civettone and Hedione (or more preferably for that, HC) are the only ones I might wear alone, but I feel little motivation to do so.

That said, now that your thread has given the idea, I might see for my own enjoyment if something really minimalistic selected just from the above might be something I would feel a motivation to wear. E.g. Civettone, Hedione, Santalol, Ambrofix, Heliotropin, Coumarin, Farnesol? But it is hard to see that not easily being improved by not being so restrictive.

I’m pretty sure that I’m slightly anosmic to hedione because when I add it to things, it definitely changes them. But on its own I get very little smell off of it!

It took me a while to smell it well.

I love the versatility of methyl anthranilate, which is my opinion is the heart of Dior poison and cool waters, two very different fragrances. I also love ambrocenide, vanillin/ethyl vanillin, black agar, and so many more

Cassis base is my favorite AC. I could wear it all by itself.
Currently wearing: Sultan by Royal Crown

Cassis base is an accord I believe, which involves a handful of ACs, for which I'm almost certain one of them is Oxane.

On Cassis Base being a mixture:

Also vetiverol, I learned recently, is very much a mix of things rather than being anything like a particular molecule.

I think Shangralide is a mixture too.

    Hi Everyone!

Long time lurker. This is my first post!

I have a few hundred aroma chemicals so far and the most pleasing one for me so far is beta ionone.

Oddly I never get olfactory fatigue from this or any ionones and it smells very strong to me, but I love this!
