Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Saturday, 6th March, 2021

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Here's something you'll rarely hear from me: this is too green. Or maybe more precisely, this is too spiky for me. I used to really like it, but now it feels like having pine needles shoved up my nose. People change.

Oh, my! Thank you, mercie, grazie molto, !תודה רבה, dear basenotes friends for the birthday greetings. 67 is a prime number, so, to the prime of life!

Have not picked out an Exclusif yet. Even as I am appreciating those Chanel virtues—soigneusement, qualité, et allure—I am not feeling the "must" so far. I have owed N° 22 parfum, which I unceremoniously spilled. Spring is coming. . . thinking, thinking. . . 22 is beguiling in April. We shall see.

SOTD is Six Scents Nappa Noir, a recent pre-birthday purchase. I believe in birthweeks, birthmonths, and, in the case of my 50th, a birthday year.
This year's "self-ebration" has included, so far:

Three pairs of shoes, all bought in one day at a most excellent local store
•Mitchell's chocolates, another local treasure. I'm in my fourth going on fifth decade of enjoying their dark chocolate covered orange rinds and the similarly dipped marzipan, and have added their candied grapefruit to the mix
•Car wash. My 2003 Vibe is as red as an apple, and now it is shiny!
    •Raspberries at $6 a half pint!
    •a persimmon
•Elderflower liqueur (I am, after all, no longer a jeune fille en fleur). Also restocked the Sambuca
•Thin Oreos (normally not allowed in the house as I have no discipline when faced with these morsels)
•Honey Hut Ice cream, another local treat, and something else that seldom crosses my threshold. The grocery was out of my fave, honey pecan, so I went with orange blossom honey and bought some sugared pecans.
    •flowers pour moi

Ah, but a surprise awaited! I worked yesterday, and came home with groceries including the $2.98 bargain bouquet to. . . flowers at my doorstep from my daughter and SIL, who moved three time zones west almost a year and a half ago, and whom I treasure and miss.

And today, my darling son Freddy called and said, "leave it all to me, mom! all you have to do is drive!" Outdoors and Chinese food to come!

Those flowers from Jenni and Brian. They're gorgeous, and they need protection by night from the "Kitty Cat 500", as my rascals do their rambunctious nighttime circuit, under the sofa, over the Steinway, on the countertops, etc. . .

    solution:

    fullsizeoutput_b3d.jpg

Again, you are my favorite thing about the internets, and if you read all of this, I love you to pieces even more! Besos!

I forgot to mention how brilliant Jon's photo is... made all the more delicious by the fact that Chaz is holding a pink flower in his hand while he's recoiling from a giant bird of prey.

I'm wearing a spritz of L'Air du Desert Marocain to the throat for late breakfast. Now that I got a backup bottle I feel free to wear it again. I've not owned any other Tauers but I've been eyeing Au Coeur du Desert and Incense Rose...

News flash for Clockwork Alice! I purchased a bottle of Bapteme du Feu and I adore it.

Happy birthday, Jujy! Your sink photograph looks like a Dutch still life. Beautiful!
