Yesterday I was doing some tidying up in the perfume drawers and found a bottle of extrait of No. 5 that I had no idea I owned. It wasn't even listed in my wardrobe. That blew my mind a little. How could I buy a half-ounce of extrait and forget about it? It's not like I'm PStoller or anything.

So I decided to wear it today and try to divorce myself from its associations. Turned out that wasn't really possible, but I did enjoy those fizzy lemon aldehydes. That intensely abstract floral/powdery middle was a bit much for me, but then I remembered how much I like the far, far drydown, when it's severely decayed and the civet and vetiver blends with some human sweat. I'm pretty sure Purecaramel can relate to that.
Can I put my head against your shoulder?
60's 70's has a very wonderfully fragrant late drydown. The musk of a woman blends to it and the scent is an eye-roller for my nose.

Sure, as long as you don't drool.

I don't think my extrait is nearly that old, though of course it's hard to tell by the box and bottle. Probably more like '80s, but it still has a true civet base. Still pretty fine, and nothing to sneeze at.

Great scent ! It lasts forever on my skin. Did you also get the strong lemony and vanilla chord ?

Dior's Eau Sauvage, another great scent by Edmond Roudnitska - still sells in the Top 5 in France for both mens and womens scents, so Dior seem to look after this one far better than many others in their stable. The trade off with any vintage iteration is the risk that the citrus notes will have faded, and Eau Sauvage has massive doses of citrus in the opening.

Wearing the current version, plus a spray on one arm of some vintage. I like the current version just fine - dare I say, perhaps even more than the vintage, save for the longevity factor. The somewhat lackluster longevity of the current version (for me) on skin, is easily remedied by adding a spray or two to the undershirt. Great stuff!

Yes. I find that the Lemon Custard and Vanilla Castoreum base can last up to 12 hours as halo, parfum like, on my skin.
