Dune (1991) by Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Dominique Ropion, and Nejla Barbir for Christian Dior

A truly unique scent. Mat Yudov and Ksenia Golovanova wrote an excellent article about its complicated components and structure:
    https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Chr...sis-12619.html

And Dane started a great BN thread on it that shows how equally complex and varied peoples' reactions to it are:
    https://www.basenotes.net/threads/42...othing-like-it

I'm not sure how I missed out on Dune when it came out in '91. But I was living in Seattle and grunge was in full bloom, so I guess no one was thinking about perfume very much.

    Creed Royal Scottish Lavender

I've had this sample for probably a year, but just now finally getting around to giving it a full wear. It's still early, so I don't know what kind of longevity I'll get with it....
    .

UPDATE: I got about 5 hours longevity before it seemingly disappeared. Not too bad, really, for my desert skin. I dig it; but the price it commands puts it out of reach for me....HOWEVER, there is another fragrance that I've been sampling this evening for the past 4 hours or so that would make an excellent substitute (although it's a current fragrance, not vintage) that is affordable, and it's: Oriza L. Legrand "Scotch Lavander" (and yep, spelled it like they spell it). Yeh, I might actually have to acquire a bottle of this one towards autumn as a I think it better for cooler temps.

My goodness, how I dig this stuff! My wife, on the other hand? I get the, "smells dated", comment with the accompanying eye roll. Hey, I'll take that as a win for me, because it wasn't the "nose-crinkled-head-turning-recoil" reaction.

Usually your wife is right but in this case she is wrong. This is amazing scent. (Seriously, my wife doesn’t like fragrance much but some better than others. )
