I'm considering buying a bottle of cK One for the summer. I'm having a weird nostalgic craving for it. I suspect it's a guilty pleasure for quite a few people.

I wore cK One last night. Noticed a rose note I had never detected before. Pretty neat.

From a mini, therefore I haven't any picture of the bottle. But it may change in a few days...

K de Krizia EDT (1981) by Maurice Roucel for Krizia

This aldehydic chypre inspires reviewers to all the adjectives that should send me screaming for the exit: grand, dramatic, glamorous, bosomy, kaleidoscopic floral, etc., etc. And yet... somehow its ultra-dry green backbone and leathery, mossy base suit me just fine. (At least in the EDT; the eau de parfum tilts over too far into feminine opulence.) It's almost in the territory of my beloved Ivoire de Balmain, but without that scent's icepick-to-the-head ferocity.

Must love aldehydes, though, as it's absolutely stuffed with them. And vintage only on this one, the modern version is a travesty.

My first thought was that we should start a list of all the miscontinued ones that have long outstayed their welcome, but then I envisioned all the fights that would erupt from that and thought "No. Very, very bad idea."

No indication if it is or not based on the information presented on the bottle/box. I'm not aware of any reformulations but that is purely based on what I own

    Lenthéric - Iceberg Cologne

Launched in the US in 1941. Supposedly launched in Europe c.1930, but I couldn't find any hard evidence for that. Last seen advertised in 1961, the ad immediately preceding that one was from January 1958, so it was probably on clearance by 1960.

"The new, cooling cologne for hot weather doldrums. To the true and authentic base has been added special ingredients to lend an extra refreshing quality." –
    1941 newspaper ad

"Why wilt…when you can keep cool, fragrant as a breeze with Lenthéric's Iceberg Cologne? Containing a secret ingredient that keeps it ice-cool to the last drop, it comes in lovely icicle bottles at "low temperature" prices, only $1.25 and $2.25 plus tax. That's why you can afford to use it lavishly…from head to toe after every bath or shower! You'll want to keep a bottle handy, too; then you can pat it on, stroke it on, all during the day!" – 1949 newspaper ad

I have no idea what the "secret ingredient" is, but this is a light, airy herbal cologne with a mild aldehydic sweetness, a "freshie" from before the age of calone/dihydromyrcenol freshies. An effective alternative to the traditional eau de cologne, though hardly the air conditioner in a bottle the advertising implies.

Beats me with a five iron. That's about as meaningful as the "special ingredients" (unlike the mundane ingredients in other colognes). But the phrase did inspire me to quote it for yuks.

Frosted is still Panouge, like mine, just previous packaging variant, so after 93 but before mine.
