Weather report - light snow interspersed with hailstones.
It's bitterly cold but sunny as well. All four seasons at once!
It's all very confusing for the birds and plants.

I need something warming and comforting so am going with

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Good morning, all!

Jujy, I forgot to mention yesterday how much I enjoyed the photos of Cleveland's concert hall. What a gorgeous space! We're signing up for a membership with our local symphony; my husband's company designed the concert hall. It's, of course, very modern with a distinctly Scandinavian influence. It's really beautiful I love attending events there. As soon as I can find a photo that isn't too large to post, I will. (If you're interested, Jujy, it's the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha.)

The year's first thunderstorms are forecast for today -- and I believe I just saw a lightning flash. Hopefully some rain comes, too.

The smell of the air this morning made me reach for the woody citric green of Parfum d'Empire Eau de Gloire.

    I'm wearing Diptyque Florabellio today.

I feel good this morning. I felt horrible yesterday and realized I had a hangover from Sunday's French 75s. I've lost my touch, apparently.

All I seem to have is a single bird who sounds exactly like a rusty hinge on a door that someone is opening ten times every minute. Not pleasant to wake up to.

I simply must get a bottle of that.

Today I'm re-evaluating the bottle I bought a year ago of the newest Miguel Matos interpretation of Cabochard EDP. I think I was too harsh to it at the time, or maybe my bottle has mellowed; I don't think I've worn it in the intervening year. At any rate, it's smelling quite fine to me today, with a big blast of bitter galbanum and a fine imitation of a black leather jacket. Very handsome thick Lalique bottle, too.

Eau de Gloire occupies the same “mossy woods” space as some of the popular 80s masculines, like Halston Z-14. EdG throws in some spice, too (just a faint suggestion of what’s in Aziyade), and a touch of leather.

It reminds me a little of ELdO Je Suis Un Homme but less leather and more green freshness.

If any of that sounds appealing, you *should* get a bottle

ETA: there’s apparently a new green PdE: Mal-Aimé. It’s apparently built around a wild weed that is native to Corsica. Not surprisingly, I can’t wait to try it.

I forgot how gorgeous this one is. Sort of like Woodcut by Olympic Orchids...but more opulent and beautiful. WAY too fancy for a normal Tuesday at the office. But hey. I'm worth it.

Hi, everyone - All the Eau de Gloire talk has me itching to try it now. Unfortunately that would likely mean chasing down *another* sample to add to my collection. Oy.

Have decided to finish up trying all the samples in my Kerosene 19-perfumes (!) Discovery Set this week. I can do it, especially if I add a few SOTEs. Today it was Kerosene Broken Theories. Not wildly compelling to me, especially after yesterday's great experience with Blackmail (even though they have some significant notes in common).

The fragrance is starting to settle out a bit for me, but for the first little while, and even still now, I am mostly smelling a melange that ends up smelling to me like spearmint and a small hint of blond wood. Now I'm getting a bit more of the spices and tobacco, too, but still not doing it for me.

    Terrific Tuesday, everyone!

Broken Theories fragrance notes: Blood orange, Tobacco, Spices, Vanilla bean, Sandalwood, Oud, Incense.
