Hello to you all and I hope you are as well as can be expected
    given these strange times.

It's very sunny here this morning but that doesn't mean it won't snow
again later on! We've had a very bizarre week weatherwise so far.

My choice of scent for today is Comme Une Evidence by Yves Rocher.
I love visiting the YR shops when I am in France. The staff are so helpful
and they are very generous with their samples. The last time I bought three
products (Monoi Oil, Shower Gel and perfume) they "doubled up" so I got
two of each item. Such a lovely surprise.

    Morning all!

l have a couple of days off, & today l'm going to get my head down & do some serious studying while l've got the house to myself. Having received feedback on my first drafts of parts 1 & 2, there are some revisions l need to make. l'm getting a bit concerned that l might need to ask for another extension in order to complete part 3, although l really didn't want to. But l have the support of my manager, so hopefully it won't be a problem if l need to do that. l really just want to get it done, but working full-time & needing to make time for relaxation makes it a challenge!

    l'm wearing Soliflore Narcissus today.

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Hi, everybody, and Happy Birthday, RichMan'sOldSpice!

Teardrop, good for you for actively seeking a decent work/life balance while pursuing your studies! You've got this.

Today's Kerosene sample (only a few left to test!) is Kerosene Black Vines. I don't usually go for fragrances with significant amounts of anise, but I'm liking its use here to lift up the fragrance overall. Also probably because I'm suggestible, I'm finding myself envisioning a row in the middle of a wine grape (or fig) arbor, early in the season, when the vines are exposed but the beginnings of leaves and fruit are evident.

I also have to say that I really love how the Kerosene fragrances - consistently across the line - evolve in beautiful and interesting ways over the course of drydown. This is a huge plus in my book.

Be as thankful as possible for your Thursday - If that works for you.

Black Vines fragrance notes: Ivy, Fig, Star anise, Cinnamon, Canadian fir, Peru balsam, Tonka, Incense, Vanilla

It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

Good morning, I guess. Thursday for me in these times is the vexatious:

"Thursday? Already? How the hell did I get here, and what have I [not] got done!?"

For one thing, I didn't play piano for two days in a row for the first time in memory. This has turned out to be not all bad. Got up, had coffee, waited for my upstairs neighbor to head out and sat down to the Berg sonata in some vintage Magie Noire. I decided at the onset of practice between a run-thru or a detailed working of specific passages. I went for run-thru, but with a slightly slower tempo. The days off did me good. I believe in the latency of learning, that what we work at keeps working for us in the intervening days. I substitute teach a lot of math, and I have seen how this latency works in math, and remind my students that what seems hard today will be old hat in two weeks, just in time for some new frustration to be introduced.

I also had a fantastic day yesterday. 70s F and balmy! Visited historic Lake View Cemetery with my sis in the morning, then came home and napped. I turned on the radio and realized that if I hopped on my bike, I would could get downtown for the final innings of the baseball game, CLE v KC. This was my first "big" ride of the season, about 18 mi roundtrip, with about a 350 ft ascent to get home, 200 of that inside a mile. I did get there for the 9th inning, which CLE won in that 9th, a 2 run homer my Jose Ramirez, aka JRam. I stopped at Gallucci's, our Italian grocer on the way home and treated myself to 3 cheeses without even checking the price, some cookies, and jar of fancy-ass Fabbri maraschino cherries. Wait, there's more. Stopped at my favorite impromptu vacant lot wings joint and got some wings with sauce. Rode home and ate those wings, having earned the calories in advance. I rode mostly main streets, and use a loud but friendly "hey!" to drivers exiting parking lots (lots of them as I pass thru the giant complex that is Cleveland Clinic), lest they not see me, followed by a "thank you!" Smiles and waves were exchanged. Hellooooo, spring!

Thanks, tdem & ComDiva! l've completed the second drafts of parts 1 & 2 today, which l never would have managed if Mr teardrop was at home. Feeling a sense of achievement, l'm enjoying wine o'clock, & l may or may not crack on with part 3 tomorrow.

l'll decide on something stinky for this evening shortly...

I'm wearing Mon Guerlain today. It is an interesting transition from yesterday's Jicky, which is said to be Mon Guerlain's inspiration. I'm falling for lavender, HARD. I'm still hankering after a bottle of Jersey.

    Jujy, I love baseball!

The refuse company is shorthanded, so we have had a filled open dumpster in front of our house for three days. We kept it secured and hidden inside the garage over the weekend until pickup day. I'm getting rather irritated with the lookie-loos and dumpster divers. Marie Kondo advises never let people see what you're throwing away and she's right. BTW, we complied with all recycling regulations and donated useable stuff to charity. Geesh!

Wearing a couple of unexciting samples. My nose is irritated by the Covid test swab, so I won’t be applying any more perfume. Tomorrow morning we drive to the Canadian border and attempt to cross Saturday morning.
