    Good morning.

My SOTD is Fiori di Capri by Carthusia.

I am testing this from a sample sent to me by a generous Basenoter
quite a few years ago. I will report back on it at a later date.

    Nice greenhouse set-up, Quarry!

Cook.bot... Took a chance and purchased that bottle of Kimonanthe. Never bought from Mercari before. Their check-out process is wonky for using pay-pal. I had to try several times to get it to completion. Hopefully, the bottle is legit. Can't be any worse than eBay, right? I've always had excellent luck with used bottles there...

Please give us a full report when you receive it! I've never yet bought anything from Mercari, but they're always turning up in my searches for vintage. I've also had excellent luck with secondhand... I think I've had two bad bottles in 12 years, which is better than my batting average with discounter sites.

Yesterday I was doing some tidying in the perfume drawers and found a bottle of extrait of Chanel No. 5 that I did not even know I owned. It wasn't even listed in my wardrobe. How could I buy a half ounce of extrait and forget about it? I decided to try to cleanse my mind of all its mythology and wear it today. But it's hard to dissassociate it from its past.

I loved the punchy aldehydes up top, but the floral heart was much more powdery than I remembered (the real "grandma" part of it), and there was more civet and less sandalwood in the base than I thought I recalled. But what I do remember is that my favorite part is when it's very decayed, at the end of the day, when it melds with a little human sweat... that deep, woody, vetiver smell, so now I'm looking forward to that.

Had the second covid shot yesterday, yikes fever all night and woke up feeling crappy, it seems to be wearing off slowly though. Made me very glad I never caught the illness, if this is the lite lite version.

    Hi, again, everyone!

Need to go see Quarry's swan-etched greenhouse, hope everyone else is doing well, and HoP, smelling goooood! I'm in another sample, Jo Malone Blue Hyacinth.

I can definitely see wearing this by itself on certain spring days, and layering it when I want something with a bit more complexity. Very nice! Goes well with my COVID-19 vaccine from earlier this morning - a pleasant distraction from the achy arm.

Blue Hyacinth fragrance notes: Blue hyacinth, Geranium, Vetiver.

I forgot to post yesterday - I wore very little fragrance, I was just coughing so much. I think I splashed on some Lagerfeld Cologne sometime mid-day before I headed out to the pharmacy. Again it's old-school-masculine-scent-week I guess...lol.

Quarry - props on the swanHouse.

Trilby - gotta love a generous Chanel SA. Enjoy your Jersey! I've wanted to test the Jersey parfum, but of course Chanel doesn't have testers for the parfums...I probably need to see if someone sells them on eBay. Last time I bought something in a Chanel boutique (pre Covid - it was a gift) I didn't get any samples. Although Miami sales associates can be incredibly boujie and stuck up, I'm already used to it.

ComDiva - I love that Jo Malone...one of the line's best and a great hyacinth scent.

Robin - I get my 2nd shot tomorrow morning, I really hope my symptoms are mild. But if they aren't at least I'm mentally prepared for it.

    Wearing more butch-realness:

Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui by Oscar de la Renta (vintage)

Probably one of the most 'serious' masculine fragrances that I enjoy. I wear it when I want a 'don't-fu*k-around' vibe.

Still coughing, but less so. My doctor advised I start taking Claritin-D so I did last night and although it made me slighly jittery at bedtime, it did help me sleep a good long while with no coughing. So I am getting better.
