    Morning all!

    Thanks, N.CAL & easyfish!

l usually have a rule about never working on my birthday, but due to an oversight on the rota l'm on the early shift today. That'll be the first time in over 30 years! But l'll have the evening with Mr teardrop who is cooking tonight, as the restaurants are still closed here anyway, & l'm taking some (store-bought) cupcakes in to work.

At least l'm smelling special today in And the World is Yours; just a teeny spritz or two.

Thank you my friends for all the birthday wishes!

kewart, l love my earrings, & lne & Jon, you smell fabulous!

l had a good day at work thank goodness, it was quite relaxed & everyone made a fuss of me.

Mr teardrop made me a very messy chocolate cake which l'll be enjoying later, but for now l'm chilling with a glass of rosay before showering & choosing my SOTE...

hooray for good news and glasses, Ms Q!

L'Heure Bleue when the sun is shining? I woke up happily pensive, if that makes sense. Had a brief but heart-to-heart with a favored work friend. I don't talk about my 20s much, and but alluded to them. That exchange led to a poem, dashed off in minutes during a lull at work, pen and tiny (photo is oversized) Moleskine always on hand. I can place the time frame of this particular younger me quite exactly, 17 nearing 18 years of age. 1971/72. My nose had been pressed to the glass of the sexual revolution. Here it is, in case you can't read my scribbling, dear ones:

When I Talk to Younger Me

    Heedless and needy in heels
    warily wearing a practiced glance
feigning glamour freighting a skinny frame
    selfish, chasing, shedding the chaste,
    onlooker to the licentious twenty-somethings
    "Question Authority
    " they say—with authority.
Envious yet in fright or flight mode
    I forgive and love you;
Your wontonness is mother to my calm.

Old little me, I will visit you that we may smile, cry & be grateful. Thank you, me.

Phleg inspired me to pick something I might not get to wear again until fall or winter, since today is cool and cloudy here.

So, Parfum Sacré by Caron EDP it is.

    Happy Birthday, dear teardrop!

I'm wearing Promesse de l'Aube because Roberto wore it earlier this week and it appealed to me this morning. It's cloudy and drizzly here so I will occupy myself indoors, with library books and maybe baking some cookies. I am putting off cleaning out the garage.

Quarry, have you seen your unicyclist again today? Portland has the Unipiper (dresses as a kilt-wearing Darth Vader, plays flaming bagpipes on a unicycle, you can Google him) so people on unicycles doing dangerous things are not uncommon here. I suppose the less adept riders injure themselves and give it up. At least, I hope they do.

Quarry, here is a unicycle sighting from a few years back. NYC. I heard later the kid got a scholarship to Juilliard. For cello, not unicycle. I think. . .

I love Dior Addict and it's the only vanilla I can tolerate, or I should say "smell". I purchased a bottle at the beginning of my fragrance journey and stupidly gave it away because it wasn't niche enough. I am seriously entertaining the idea of rebuying it this fall. It, and Diorella, are my favorite Diors. Oh, maybe Dune too. (Sorry, Oud Ispahan.)

I'm baking a blueberry pie for tomorrow's brunch. Normally I use fresh fruit but I purchased numerous cans of pie fruit at the beginning of the pandemic when grocery stores were running low. Now I'm starting to go through my stockpile. The blueberries are from Oregon!

My garage guy came today. Before we drywall, an electrician will add outlets including adding a charging station for an electric vehicle. The garage will go from being crappy to state-of-the-art!

We started out toasting you, teardrop, with a chardonnay, then proceeded to our house wine (elderberry and grape). When we sniffed the red after the white, I said, "This smells like what I wore yesterday, Rose Flash." Mr. Q agreed. Then I brought out the Rose Flash bottle, sniffed, and we still agreed. It smelled like the sweet version of Mr. Q's wine. I know I drank just 6 oz. total, but I'm still feeling it more than an hour after lunch. What a cheap date I am!

So, feeling rose-inclined, I'm wearing Guerlain With Love.

Haven't seen unicyclist today, foxbins, but, yes, your bagpipe-playing unicyclist is known to us from random YouTube vids. Dear Daughter stopped by today, and she says unicyclists and subset groups of unicyclists are known in our state's capitol (where she lives) like the left-handed LGBTQ unicyclists with freckles subset (I exaggerate, but just a little). Gotta love our state's Hippyville.

I was going to make one more point, but those 6 oz. of wine have ... um, what was I saying?

Oh, yeah! Jujy, one day I'm going to hug word-juggler you!

Yes! Respect. Mr. Q is obsessed with electric vehicles. I remember telling our neighbor 25 years ago that her automotive mechanic son was going to have to relearn everything when electric cars phased in. Snap your fingers and poof! -- most of us will be driving electric before you know it.
