We can drink to that. How about I wear one of your favorite scents, would that work?

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Morning all, & Happy BN-iversary, lne!

l have a couple of days off, & having caught up with some housework l'll get back into studying shortly.

l'm wearing Creed's Fleurs de Gardenia, from a sample kindly sent by a generous basenoter. l tried this in-store some years ago & wasn't all that keen, & l'm afraid my opinion on it hasn't changed. l dislike that sharp fruity opening, & for me it's way more about LOTV than gardenia.

    Happy 15th BN-versary, ineespenes!
For Her is a beautiful choice to commemorate this! It's cool that after all these years you still love the scent that brought you here
Do you feel like your taste changed a lot in 15 years or did it expand a lot or did it narrow to your favourite styles?

teardrop, I think you can reject the scent in the style of Turin & Sanchez: as 'not gardenia'!

I chose Les Amoureux de Peynet by Molinard in the morning because of its sharp, crisp, bright citruses, but it seems like it faded away by now. But I noticed that the sleeves of jumper I put on still smell of Orchid Soleil very lightly, so it seems like I'm wearing this right now. Although I don't really consider it 'wearing' because I haven't sprayed it for maybe a week

Ine, those 15 years went fast, didn't they? Happy Anny!

Hey there, Kate Wang, what are you wearing today?

I've been ignoring Bois des Iles too long. It should play well with the Black Vetyver Cafe that lingers on my sweatshirt cuffs. May shed the sweatshirt if it hits 72F/22C as predicted. Will probably mow today. While pushing the mower, I feel so grateful to be doing so when I needed a walker in January.

Hello and best to everyone. Happy Basenotes anniversary, Ine!

Paco Rabanne Metal today. I expected this to be in the same edgy vein as Calandre or Rive Gauche. Instead it’s a softly aldehydic green floral. It gets a bit powdery-mossy dry in the drydown, no sharp angles anywhere. Lovely stuff.

Clockwork, yes, "not gardenia" is right!

Q, l'll let you in on some of the names: there's Pete the printer, George the G-tech (vacuum cleaner), Harry ( a Honeywell dehumidifier), & my personal favourite, Mo the lawnmower.

And pushing a mower sounds so much more fun than pushing a walker!

Thanks for the BN-anniversary greetings everyone I've now slept after my nightshift and plan to get up. I have one more this week (not off afterwards, though) To answer your question ClockworkAlice. I feel I still love some that I did when I first came to BN, but my taste has defenitely developed too. I've discovered I love Chypres, leathers and incense f.ex. I quickly found out I love the style of Serge Lutens and I still do. I've also grown to appreciate woody and citrusy scents. I've discovered I also enjoy animalic scents. But so called "freshies", very fruity and aquatic scents are still not my thing. But there are exceptions in those categories too. When I joined Floralorientals was a favourite. Now I prefer them more fullblown oriental. I've learned I love Iris, roses and some whiteflorals too. Oldstyle Guerlains and Chanel is also a love. Anyway, I guess I defenitely broaden my horizons. For my sotd/e/n I will wear my first Niche I bought, Chergui. Have a great day everyone (sorry for the looong post )

Congrats to Inee on 15 years! Pondering that number made me look around at the other long-timers here, and there are a remarkable number in that range -- Kewart, Roberto, Jon, Kbe, Tdem, Quarry... and Donna at 17 years. That is a long time. I couldn't think of anything my life that I've stuck with that long, not a job, or a town, or a marriage, or a hobby. Made me feel like such a grasshopper.

It's almost laughably perfect weather here today, like a scene from a Disney movie. Perfect 75F temps, crystalline sky, mild breeze, and a raucous chorus of songbirds. It all created such a cheerful mood that I decided to give another chance to my recent huge disappointment, Castaa by Cloon Keen Atelier.

I waited almost two years to get my hands on this scent, and its elements sound like everything I should swoon for: chestnut, vetiver, cardamom, cassie, pepper. But it just isn't working for me and I'm hellbent on figuring out why.
