Smile Fragrances that make you think of other Basenoters when you wear them.

What fragrances make you think of other Basenoters current or former when you wear them?

For the sake of remembrance and appreciation, this may include both living and Basenoters known to have passed on.

For bonus kicks, you can also list why you think of this Basenoter when wearing the fragrance, like if they helped you discover it or it's something they wear/wore a lot themselves on these boards.

I'll go first with one, but I have several.

Antonio Puig Sybaris (1988) - Reminds me of AceyMan when I wear it because he's so enthusiastic about it. Safe to say it's one of his favorites and he used to gush about it a lot, saying it has a "dad's aftershave" smell. I can't confirm or deny that last bit, but I'll never forget it.

If I wear anything by Oriza L. Legrand, I think of basenoter Prince Barry because he brought this house to my attention and now have all their releases.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.

Eau d'Hermes Coppertop = Cook.bot and JTD as they steered me to find a greater appreciation of this Masterpiece.

Oud Palao = Varanis Ridari He says he intro-ed this to me although I remember it as opposite. As well intro-d me to Oland and other lovely Avon scents.

Pour Monsieur= Bavard reintroduced this gem to me along with other Gods like Patou Pour Homme and Prive.

Heritage EDP= Epapsiou shared a purchase of this remarkable scent in Vintage. Whoa what an Eyeroller.

Oud Infini = ClaireV passed a sample of this Monolith early allowing me to review early.

Maxim's Pour Homme and Etienne Aigner= Colin Maillard who sold these to me for a most reasonable price.

    Jazz Prestige=Aceyman

    Many others surely.
Scarcity is an illusion. Unlearn it.

    Heartwarming thread idea

When I wore Avon Black Suede Touch, I was thinking of you VR. Reasons remain mysterious... It wasn‘t totally for me (and not a recommendation btw, just something I stumpled upon) , but thanks to you I will try more Avons.

Etienne Aigner (1975) makes me think of of purecaramel as he loves it, and so do I.

Polo Green — cough, Danny Mitchell, of course. This hasn‘t come up yet?

Heritage makes me think of speckmann and his tons of backups of everything nice

African Leather — hednic, funnily. I don‘t know any of hednic‘s all time favs yet, but he seems to be one of the few that are positive towards the house of Memo, and I‘m glad to have encountered this beauty.

New York Intense — freewheelingvagabond, as he counts it among the GOATs, and I do too, in my limited experience.

    Bavard = Bavard!

    Hi Grant,
Ah - the good old days.
I'd love to know how Jeffrey currently feels about 212 Men, now that 20 years have elapsed.

Who knows, maybe he only now wears it four or five times a week.
He was fun to have around.
    Cheers,

I pretty much discovered all my favourite fragrances via basenotes, so in a way all of them remind me of one basenoter or another, but the following stand out the most:

Bruno Acampora & Tsarina - Ebenas, she was kind enough to share these gems with me and I'm hooked!
Vintage Madame Rochas - grayspoole in her infinite wisdom sent me some and I think of her every time I wear this
Siberian Musk - Claire V. raved about it so much I had to try it

Almost any Chanel, particularly Antaeus plus a few Chanel Exclusives- Bavard

Almost any Avon but also 80s powerhouses- Varanis Ridari

Vintage Guerlains, along with further, mostly chypre vintages- Jon Rodgers

Both intoxicating, niche/designer exclusive quality intricate luxurious florals and yet also haiku style puristic, often Japanese/Far Eat inspired clean, fresh scents- Redneck Perfumisto

Lutens and Amouage renditions of exotic spices- Hedonist222

Almost any piney scents, from the great value for money but still classic options like Pino Silvestre, Proraso, Sir Irisch Moos to exclusive niche takes on this theme- Odysseum

    Larimar- classic Knize or Caron

Classics again but this time focused mainly on traditional barbershop style (with an array from bargains to niche in the available selection, as long as remaining gentlemanly)- Tspencer, Niles, Hat and Beard, The Cologne Cabinet

    Azzaro PH- Speckmann

Both the finest and priciest niche as much as the least expected affordable designers, even drugstore scents as long as they fit a certain image of Proust style French/European Old School dandyism, surprisingly with an outstanding trendiness once the revival of certain classics become fashionable again and almost irrespective of house, price point, notes, release year, gender- Naed Nitram

What fragrances make you think of other Basenoters current or former when you wear them?

My answers are limited by what's in my Wardrobe/Samples, and whether or not I associate those scents with folk on BN.
There are plenty of scents, the names of which I strongly associate with various BNers, but that's not the same thing if I don't own/wear them myself.

Castile : L'Homme Blanc Individuel (I still had some of this left when I became aware of how much he likes it)
Gucci Guilty Absolute : Suspended (istr we both discovered this and raved about it at the same time)
Eau des Baux : SixCats (unlikely though this may seem; we exchanged PMs about this one)
Jacomo de Jacomo : VR, because I find his review hilarious
Bel Ami : rum (a mutual favourite)
Fahrenheit : Danny Mitchell (of course, and because it's usually Friday when I wear it)
Prada Infusion d'Iris Eau de Parfum Absolue : astaldohen (one of the most frequent wearers of this on BN, going by SOTD)
Penhaligon's Elixir : orrisboy (he gave me a sample of what became my most worn; this was several years before I found BN)
Unum Io Non Ho Mani : remik (bought a split from him)
Etro Heliotrope : Emanuel76 (another fan of this somewhat acquired taste - not everyone wants to smell like marzipan)
Spring is almost here. Selecting from : Penhaligon's Elixir; Bottega Veneta Bottega Veneta pour Homme EdT; Etro Gomma, Etro Palais Jamais. Aramis Tuscany; Knize Knize Ten, Hermes Equipage (vtg), Hermes Bel Ami, Caron Yatagan; Guerlain Vetiver.
