    Here’s another:-

    Penhaligon’s Castile - L'Homme Blanc Individuel.

He did such a fantastic job extolling its virtues I couldn’t help but source for a decant.

MALLE MONSIEUR. - Always think of Varanis Ridari. Dozens of reviews and this one is the only one that's the equivalent of a drive by assassination.

MAZZOLARI LUI - Makes me think of ClaireV.

    HABIT ROUGE - Primrose.

Rarely wear it, but can't even look at a POLO bottle without thinking of Danny Mitchell.

I was pretty mean to WD/18 by A. N. Other too.

Also, wearing Mandom makes me think of Judith Brockless. Seeing it forever in her scent of the day is what made me curious enough to buy it.

This is lovely, isn't it? The more I think about it, the more associations pop up. I pretty much discovered everything I own due to someone on this site, either via reviews, discussions, or swaps. I discovered this site quite by accident but I'm so glad I did.

Yes indeed! Many kudos to the Red Dragon for coming up with the idea. It's kind of the ultimate in "attitude of gratitude", at a time when many of us could use some of that.

    Thank you!

It's my way of countering some of the recent uptick in combativeness I've seen people having in threads across the site. What better way to get folks to see the good in others and potentially make friends than an exercise in positive fragrance associations?

These same associations are what make us cherish our fragrances to begin with, so rather than seeing Basenoter X or Y as the person you fought with over whether gender matters or if naturals are objectively better, you can see them as the person who helped you discover a favorite scent.

Works wonders with building tolerance and respect for someone even if you disagree with them in one thing or another, doesn't it? Anyways...

When I wear R de Capucci, I think of freewheelingvagabond because he always uses that bookself picture when he posts his bottle.

I wish was on Basenotes during those years(2000s), I had a bunch of burning questions on some of the rare Creeds that I do own - Scent of Oger, Verveine Narcisse, and Bayrhum Vetiver.

Just a couple among many, Cookbot's passion for Eau d'Hermes pushed me to blind buy a 200ml copper top, one of my best acquisition. I knew I'd love it but it just blew my mind.
Redneck's Kouros Day influenced me to give it a proper chance, I found a partial Ritz for cheap I had to have it.

Two of my absolute favorites, thanks guys!

There are too many frags and too many people to list them all. I will state, that if I hadn't stumbled upon Basenotes back 2017, I would never have known about Niche perfumes. I thank you all, for that discovery! However, my wallet says for all the suggestions and subsequent exploration leading to the draining of my funds in recent years.

Absolutely! I am loving this thread, Varanis Ridari! The more I think about it, the more influences there are.

The perfume that really started it all for me was Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, which I had discovered in France while broke at the end of a trip (honeymoon), and I was searching for it stateside when I stumbled upon Basenotes for the first time in 2005, a year or so before I joined. And I know that my next major purchase, Mitsouko, was influenced here by reviews. I’m thinking Mimi Gardenia...
My only regrets in life are the people I haven't stood up for,
and the perfumes I've thrown away.

I must be a sentimental fool. This thread made me miss some BNers who are no longer active...

Cuir X - ClaireV. Her review of it still gives me the chuckles!

Fahrenheit - MatthewFoo /MFJ. Dude, wherever you’re now, know that you’re the reason I started reviewing on Basenotes.

Dior Poison - Le Grand Duc. Can’t smell this without thinking of you.

This list could pretty much be endless for me. So many of the things I have are directly due to learning about them here, and there’s usually one or two people that come to mind when I think of most of my fragrances.

    Creed Vetiver 1948 - jazznpool
    Creed Selection Verte - jazznpool
Creed Bois de Santal - Manuel
    Creed Windsor - DULLAH

OMG, I was around for rediscovery of Scent of Oger. That was a moment in Creed BN history.

Two of my absolute favorites, thanks guys!
You are most welcome! And thank you! A joyous proof that drinking and posting *can* be a good thing!

Yes, for me this place was the niche gateway. Sel de Vetiver, I owe to Chandler Burr and all here.

Matt is a great human being, wherever he is. Bulgari Aqua! We were two guys wild over the same fragrance!

DULLAH got me started on clothing application to preserve the delicate rose note, which my skin eats, in original Windsor. A great BNer!
