    Default Help me choose.....

Now I know they are different scents but as I like them both but can't afford both, which one would you choose of you had my (meagre) wardrobe?

    The scents are:-

    Chanel Platinum Egoiste (current)
    or
    Dior Fahrenheit EDT (current)

    I currently have:-

    Creed Erolfa
    Dior Eau Sauvage EDT
    Issey Miyake Leau D'Issey
    Bleu de Chanel EDT
    Calvin Klein Eternity Aqua
Mont Blanc Legend (almost empty) - (is this a duplication/redundant if i buy Platinum Egoiste?)
    Dunhill Desire Silver
Mercedes Benz for Men (original clear juice)
    Versace Pour Homme
    Davidoff Cool Water 'Wave'
    Body Shop White Musk

I would take Fahrenheit if you like it (I love it)
there is nothing that comes close to it so there will be no overlap.

Platinum egoiste is a great scent and is clean and office safe etc - but you have bleu de chanel EDT and mont blanc legend so you have alternatives there

I'm tending to agree that Mont Blanc Legend and Bleu de Chanel largely cover the same ground. I like Platinum Egoiste more than Bleu de Chanel, but Bleu de Chanel is more in style. I would imagine the Eternity flanker is also similar.

And Fahrenheit is quite a bit different.

For clothing, I like to keep roughly the same style from day to day, so in that line of thought, I would go with Platinum Egoiste. If you're going for variety, it has to be Fahrenheit.

I would go with the Chanel personally.

You should go to the store and spray one on one arm, and the other on the other arm, and walk around for 2 hours and see which you find yourself sniffing more - and go with that one.

    Fahrenheit.

My 2019 bottle smells very good. I love the "petrol" note, which in my two vintage 10 ml's ('88 and '89) must have degraded a bit, because it can't have been that understated originally.

Thanks, so far it looks like Fahrenheit is winning.
It would really help guys, if you could state your reason for the choice, it just gives some perspective rather than a simple popularity contest?

I have tried both of them on separate occasions, so it wouldn't be a 'blind buy' as such but I've not tried them at the same time to directly compare, so I will try to if I can.

I also vote for Fahrenheit. To me, Egoiste Platinum is loud and though I do like it, I can't imagine wearing it often. Both choices are quite different from Mont Blanc Legend.

Although voted for the current Egoiste Platinum out of these two, also happening to like the current Fahrenheit EDT just enough to always consider and recommend this as a second option when in doubt and/or should Egoiste Platinum still be for some reason unavailable

If I had to choose between only these two, Platinum Egoiste. But I quickly tire of smelling it. It gets annoying after awhile.

I feel like other scents in your wardrobe cover the same ground as Platinum Egoiste even though they don't smell the same. But Fahrenheit is like nothing else, and it's surprisingly versatile.

I'd say FARENHEIT because it's a more risky scent.

PLATINUM EGOISTE is fairly safe as are most of your other scents.

If the primary place you plan to wear is office, then PLATINUM EGOISTE. FARENHEIT is a tad challenging as an office scent.
I don't get out much. But when I do, I smell real good.

Looking at Sloth's wardrobe, I have a feeling he might well enjoy the current Fahrenheit and its fresher/zestier top notes.

Not a fan of current Fahrenheit (but the vintage is excellent). Platinum Egoiste is safe and pleasant smelling, but nothing special. I guess I would prefer the latter of the two if forced, but would seek out the vintage Fahrenheit to buy instead.

All that said, looking at your wardrobe, while it might be “more of the same” I think you will most likely prefer Platinum Egoiste.
    Current Top Ten:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Jasmin Antique (Rogue Perfumery)

    3) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie
    3) Giorgio V.I.P. Special Reserve (Giorgio Beverly Hills) - tie

    5) Dia pour Homme vintage edt (Amouage)

    6) Nombre Noir (Shiseido)
    7) Lucifer (Renaissance Fragrances)
    8) Polo vintage (Ralph Lauren)
    9) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy)
    10)Vetifleur (Rogue Perfumery)

Came here to chime in with what these two gents have already said.

I personally own and wear the Chanel regularly, whereas the Dior never really clicked with me. So that says a lot.

But as the others have said, getting Platinum Egoiste is irrelevant given the other scents that you have. You could be easily reaching for BdC or the MB in the future, take a look at the unused PE in your wardrobe some day and think 'why the heck did I ever buy that?'

Knowing your tastes somewhat, if you can truly get along with Fahrenheit, then go for that.
