    My latest eBay pickup. It was listed as a 2oz bottle with an OBO although
    all the pictures showed otherwise. Made a $50 offer and it was accepted.

    Ivoire (1980) by Balmain

    Icy-green, bitter, soapy, with just the amount of pencil-shavings cedar that I like. And a little touch of armpit (asafoetida?) to keep it jolie-laide.

    Turin praises its "downmarket French chic". I think if you sanded all the spiky edges off Ivoire, you'd be close to the sleek beauty of Chanel No. 19. But sometimes spikes are what you want.

    God bless the careless eBay sellers. I've gotten some of my best bargains from them, including vintage Dior parfums that were listed as EDT miniatures.

    OBO = Or Best Offer

    I have pretty good success with OBO offers as the worst that can happen is the seller says No and you never know when they'll agree to a low offer.

    As my Grandma said: "The NO, you already have it !" (Meaning that by not asking, it's for sure a NO).

    I was meaning: how do you like Cologne by Lagerfeld ? I love it !

    I got a sample from another BN member and went on the hunt for my own bottle right away. This type of scent is always right up my alley.

    Hope this comes out right, if not blame Google translation - Votre grand-mère était une personne sage.

    Sorry, I've forgotten you've already told me about Cologne.

    Yes, she was a wise woman, like most old people are and I like a lot this sentence; I like using it and doing so.

    Iris Bleu Gris by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier (sample)

    I have two samples; one that I know for a fact is vintage, and the other I'm not sure of. I'm conducting an A/B of both, and truth-be-told, I can't tell a difference between the two. So either they're both vintage, or if the other is the current version, then any reform has been done very well.
