    Acqua di Gio Pour Homme

It's been quite a while since I last wore this. I admit that I was a fan when this first launched; wore it a lot back then. Fast forward 20 years, and truth-be-told, I think I'm either too old for it now, or else my preferences have changed to where it doesn't really interest me that much anymore. I had tried the current version a couple of years ago just for kicks, but found it quite shrill - kind of metallic. Wearing vintage today, and it's not as shrill, thankfully.

    It's surprisingly decent.

Of course it's inferior to the original, lacking the oakmoss and hard leather, but it's a step up from the '90s version, the one with the embossed frosted glass bow on the bottle. The new one is much less harsh than that one was (the "ashtray accord" is dialed way back), and the florals are cleaned up a bit and go well with the smoother leather. I started a thread when it came out but nobody else ever fessed up to buying it.

My impressions improved a lot on subsequent wearings after my initial evaluation. Plus the new bottle is very, very handsome.

The review section on Fragrantica is amusing. Remember the "German stewardess sex" guy?

I just realized you asked about the EDT and I've only tried the EdP.

Still extremely useful! The sample Primrose gave me is definitely the one with the "ashtray" accord. That is the perfect description. That version is still excellent to me. Very good news!

Older formula of Villoresi Uomo. This stuff has really grown on me over the years. Love the bracing herbs and spice accord against the opening citrus and the spare and dry but warm vetiver base.

I've seen some concerning commentary about it being reformulated for the worse. Any fans who have tried old and new iterations care to comment?

Don’t know that it’s my favorite (because there are so many, and I’ve worn mine so infrequently), but I think I’d take its soapy barbershop scent over the more sharply coniferous Pino Silvestre, which I also have in first edition or close to it.

Vintage one I just got today. Smells much better, IMO, than the current.
