Default Latest Calvin Klein - Defy!

    https://www.basenotes.net/threads/48...=1#post5449558

Anyone tried this one yet? Thoughts positive and/or negative?

Personally not interested in this at all.

The bottle looks nice. I was in Macy's earlier today and did not see it.

You never know, it could be good. Note pyramid isn't promising though.

    Interesting background.

    https://wwd.com/beauty-industry-news...de-1234868424/

I was going to make a winky comment about the "defiance of lavender", and give y'all kudos for being actually defiant, but with some respect for the difficult task of industry fragrance psychological mass-programming, and seeing where they are going with this, and knowing the good people in the industry, I'll just let them work.

The whole concept and ad look like remake of ckfree release. Very 2000's. Very ck.

I have been sorely disappointed in every release by this house for decades. My hopes are low.

Described as woody aromatic, but not very woody ingredients.

    Truth.

    No, literally.

It was the last Calvin Klein fragrance I ever bothered to purchase. Almost two decades ago (2002.)

I think I had given up on them around the time after obsession. I don't believe I ever even gave this one a chance.

    I'll research Truth.

Do you still like it or has it disappeared from your wardrobe altogether?

I bought it, but ultimately it was so-so. That's when I stopped buying anything from the house (though I still try them from time to time.) Bottle is loooooooong gone. I went to Ulta today and smelled a bunch of popular designers (left empty-handed), but noticed not a single Calvin Klein in sight.

It's all about the scent, but the presentation and name come across as very generic.

Calvin Klein was really hot in the 80s, right? Obsession for Men was a huge hit and had a very elegant looking, Dynasty-style look to it. Eternity for Men felt like it started the prototype in vague design/presentation but it felt cutting edge at the time in presentation and smell.

cK One was their last big hit I think. Contradiction was a nice experiment but had its feet too much into the harsh chemical realm. That RL scent that looks like it's in some kind of outdoor flask did it better but it was discontinued.

I keep hoping they'll return to prominence in the fragrance game.

Yeah, I keep waiting for another Obsession-level winner, but it never arrives. CK One Shock and Dark Obsession came close to a buy. I think I have Crave and the men's Euphoria.

Calvin Klein's last project he was involved in was Escape after that he sold his name and left the company. You can see from that point on when fragrances went downhill fast.

The days of Obsession and Eternity are gone.

Great point. We're talking early Windows - pre-95. That's significant.

Beautiful flask (at least in the picture). I will try it when I get a chance to. CK fragrances are a hit or a miss with me. And for those prices they are always worthy a try for me.
I don’t understand. It is so vast that surpasses all understanding.Understanding is always limited. But not understanding can have no boundaries.I feel like I'm much more complete when I don't understand. Not understanding, like I say,is a gift. Not understanding, but not as a simple-minded.The good thing is to be intelligent and not understand. It's a strange blessing, like having craziness without being crazy. It is a meek disinterest,it is a stupid sweetness.

I always liked reveal I guess it met it's fate because I don't see it around as much as the rest of their men's fragrances that and I think it was encounter dark blue bottle with the weird sharp edges both I really liked and they were not that pricey. But I have to agree this does not look appealing.

I actually liked Reveal Men, and almost bought Encounter, but it never opened the wallet. I'm wearing Euphoria Men today - have not worn it in over 10 years since my initial spree with it - and am reminded of why I got it.

Avon actually spends good money on bottle designs though. Have you seen some of them?

Bought the bottle of this one and happy.
It is closer to Fierce/Legend than to any blue fragrance. There is a prominent vetiver note in the dry down that reinvents this DNA to me. Sure Defy will earn many compliments.

The bottle is heavy and looks nice.

Encounter had real potential, but lasted about an hour on my skin. Smelled great, but no longevity.

Tried Defy today. It’s generic, but not 2021 generic, more like a late 1990s /early 2000s generic. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either.
    Currently enjoying

Bois du Portugal / Aventus / Pour Monsieur / Boss Number One (current)
Sagamore (vintage) / Bowling Green / Bright Neroli / Cool Water (vintage)
Antaeus / Allure Homme / Jazz Club / YSL Pour Homme HC / Jubi XXV
