Default Latest Frederic Malle - Synthetic Jungle!

    https://www.basenotes.net/threads/48...=1#post5494649

Has anyone tried it yet? Thoughts positive and/or negative?

Another blind buy for me in the future.

The notes sound quite appealing on this one. Maybe not a blind buy for *me*, but I could definitely see a future buy as well.

Mainly concentrates on 'feminines' though and Synthetic Jungle looks like it leans that way also

Excited to try it, but the notes look concerning. More "synthetic" than "jungle". Lily of the valley and Galbanum? Sounds like room spray to me. Fingers crossed it smells better than the notes imply.

Interested, as I love most of the perfumes from Malle.

Lol I know right. It kinda sounds like a phrase someone would use in a negative review, but it's just fully embracing it.

I haven't tried any Malle frags yet but the name and Anne Flipo makes me wanna give it a go

Feminine leaning, according to the notes.

A high quality response to H24, maybe?

Ropion created awful fragrances, but also made The Night, Superstitious, Portrait of a Lady, & Une Fleur de Cassie.

He was involved in Invictus also -- we all have to make a living though. Highly skilled perfumers dumb down all the time.

It's been in the works for a while, at least before H24 so I doubt it. I do agree with the feminine leaning notes, but will still try when available.

You also have to remember that these perfumers are following briefs. The actual "director" still have to approve the finished product. They're just told what to do.

I’ll try this one for sure. I liked the recent CdG Celluloid Galbanum release, so I’m curious to see a Malle release with a perhaps similar vibe.
“I have often observed that [scents] cause an alteration in me and work upon my spirits according to their several virtues; which makes me approve of what is said, that the use of incense and perfumes in churches, so ancient and so universally received in all nations and religions, was intended to cheer us, and to rouse and purify the senses, the better to fit us for contemplation” - Montaigne

I suppose. None of us really know exactly how much input the perfumer has at Frederic Malle since the marketing/branding of Malle is high perfumer input, but that could be all just advertisement. I think Malle is about as solid a brand out there right now, so I'm looking forward to the Neiman Marcus near me to get in a bottle.

I'm not even sure I like green fragrances. But will give it a sniff. Notes not very appealing to me so far.

Hopefully it'll be a focus on patchouli and basil (or green in general as opposed to floral pretty synth blast), with the lily and jasmine giving some sparks to the green galbanum in the background. That could be interesting.
I think this could go in any way imaginable........

I just hope we get something that earned the name. Superstitious could be called Synthetic Floral (which I enjoy), so a green synthetic perfume could be fantastic.

Just had an email back from the Frederic Malle SA telling me that this will be released exclusively on the Liberty website on the 16th August but will then be available internationally on 1st September.

I have been wearing a 2ml sample of it for the past 24 hours.
Sadly for me, there is not much I can say about it. Imagine a black currant note from L'Ombre Dans L'Eau on top of No 19 EDT minus aldehydes, any bitterness and iris. In the drydown I get warm quiet jasmine. Longevity is about 3-4 hours on me. I get neither synthetics, nor anything related to a jungle from it. Everything smells naturally and notes go exactly in the order they were listed, i.e., galbanum, lily of the valley, jasmine and patchouli (plus the black currant note on top which lasts for about 10 minutes). Please note that this is merely anecdotal evidence.
