    Happy Birthday, Freewheeling Vagabond!

I feel much better today (thanks to your get well wishes guys!) but my nose is still so stuffy and runny that I decided to wear Opium today as that one (together with maybe Angel Muse) are one of the things I am still able to smell
(my sense of smell isn't gone, it's just much worse because of all the... stuff in my nose)

Hopefully everyone feels at least slightly better today.

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Afternoon all, & Happy Birthday, freewheelin'!

Hope everyone's feeling well & rested today. Clockwork, thanks for asking about my wrist: it's getting better by the day, & l'm confident now that there isn't a fracture. l still can't do things like lift a full kettle with my right hand yet, but l can manage most things with little discomfort. l'll still go to my appointment on Friday to make sure all is well, though.

lt's sunny & reasonably warm here today. l'm wearing Sikkim Girls, & the bottle is almost finished...

Oh, and since you're about to finish your Sikkim Girls: just in case if you'd like to replenish it, the right time to do it would be now as it's marked as "gone soon" in their website! Same for 1000 kisses deep that I remember you seemed to like - I myself wanted to buy that one but while I was pondering they were sold out in Estonian and German sites, oh well. (I got Smuggler's Soul instead) They still have it in UK site in case you want more for yourself

I even bought Ambre Gris despite disliking amber scents, just because of its gorgeous bottle and disco-ball cap. I've since given all those bottles away as gifts when I couldn't find any love for them, but I still miss that Ambre Gris bottle. (Not to mention the twinges I get seeing my $40 original purchase selling for $200-300 on eBay.)

But Phleg did remind me of the one revived Balmain that held my attention, so I'll wear that today: Balmain de Balmain. A classic chypre with a jasmine heart, and still to be found at its original bargain price.

Happy Birthday, Freewheeling Vagabond! And Happy early Birthday to kewart! What a lovely gift from your son.

Fall has arrived here in the PNW. The light is slanted through the windows and drenching rain is coming this weekend, the first since last spring, and is desperately needed. I love rainy days here. I'm wearing Cologne pour le Soir and the kitties are still being clingy, so I'm covered in furry bodies, purring away.

I'm joining Roberto in Guerlain Heritage today, although mine is the edp version. Heritage screams autumn to me. Well, maybe Heritage doesn't scream - it's far too mellow.

    Happy Birthday, freewheeling!

I'm glad those who haven't been at 100% are feeling better/healing!

Hugs to (((ComDiva))), (((foxbins))), and (((Quarry))) -- and to those looking determinedly ahead to "feeling better" days. Congrats to Shycat on her spiffy front porch rail and gleaming drip pans.

I've spent the last week or so sampling. I agree 100% with cazaubon that Zoologist Chipmunk is a winner.

Other sampling winners for me include:
    • Serge Lutens La Dompteuse Encagée (stupid name for a really lovely fragrance - the frangipani/ylang/jasmine/almond combination is an entirely new kind of JFP; ComDiva, you especially should check it out)
    • Zoologist Camel
    • Voyage d'Hermes Parfum
    • Bel Ami EDT
    • Eau d'Hermes EDT (current formulation)
    • Hermessence Vetiver Tonka
    • Rogue Vetifleur

And, so far, my SotD is pretty good: Frederic Malle Synthetic Jungle. Another stupid name. If they had named it Psychedelic Jungle, I could sort of get behind that. It's a *really* happy, bright green fragrance - sort of like what would happen to a chypre that mainlined anti-depressants and occasionally licked a dancing bear stamp. If fragrances had facial expressions, this one would be wearing a slightly unhinged, beaming grin. It will be interesting to see where it goes.

Sampling losers were too many to list, but loser standouts include the new Rogue flanker, Derviche II (it has an overdose of the woody aromachemical that totally wipes me out -- norlimbanol, maybe?) and Papillon Spell 125 which was awful on me. I had very strong "hate" reactions to both of them.

I sold my golf ball capped bottle some time ago, on eBay. I saved a decant of it. I also had a golf cap bottle of Vent Verte. That, is gone as well. I believe I had a mini of Balmain de Balmain back in the early 90s. I forget off hand....

Happy birthday to Freewheeling Vagabond and Kewart! I arrived last night in San Diego after an unspeakable flight from Nanaimo. It will be my last flight for a very long time, if I ever fly again.

Covered in about 8 different things, but after my shower I think I’ll wear the new Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa. It is 95% santal and 5% rosa, so very unisex. I will layer it over a rose lotion to balance it out a bit.

Greatly looking forward to Chipmunk and Hummingbird to arrive Monday!
